From Star Reveals Boyd’s “Hurtful & Heavy” Storyline In Season 3
I first discoveredFroma little after season 1 began airing, while checking out some of the original series Epix (now MGM+) had to offer. The series hooked me immediately. The slow burn of its multi-layered mystery coupled with compelling characters makes for an intriguing watch. While season 2 felt like a step down, it still helped the show surge in popularity, with horror legend Stephen King even posting about it online. Now, having watched the first five episodes ofFromseason 3, I’m thrilled to report this season is already the best in the series so far.
From Season 3 Expertly Juggles Multiple Storylines & Mysteries
The Series Balances Its Important Points With Care
Picking up directly afterFromseason 2’s shocking ending, season 3 begins with Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno) shocked to discover she’s escaped the town. Her storyline leads her to discover surprising connections between where she woke up and where her family is still trapped. As she tries deciphering what few clues she has, the townspeople face new problems as the crops grown by Colony House go bad seemingly overnight. As Boyd (Harold Perrineau) and Donna (Elizabeth Saunders) attempt to keep the people calm, Jim (Eion Bailey) decides to head on a rescue mission in hopes of finding his wife.
Fromwas created by John Griffin, who wrote or co-wrote 18 episodes across seasons 1 and 2.

Other character stories include Fatima (Pegah Ghafoori) dealing with her pregnancy, Jade (David Alpay) continuing to decipher the meaning behind a symbol he keeps seeing, and Victor (Scott McCord) trying to reconcile with his past. However, the real meat of this season’s storylines don’t start until after the terrifying premiere episode, which establishes new dynamics for the survivors I won’t spoil here. Once the events unfold, though, the series does a phenomenal job juggling multiple storylines thanks to all of them having connections to the town’s ongoing mysteries.
From Season 2’s Unanswered Questions: 13 Mysteries Season 3 Must Answer
As From season 2 came to a close, there are still numerous unresolved mysteries surrounding the town which must be answered in season 3.
But the mysteries of the town wouldn’t be complete without compelling characters elevated by fantastic performances. Thecast ofFromexcels at bringing life to the town’s residents, bolstering the mysterious events that unfold.Moreno’s Tabitha is a big highlight, her immediate panic and subsequent investigative mindset palpable elements of the season. Perrineau also delivers his best performance sinceLost, as Boyd is delivered mental blow after blow trying to keep the town at peace. Saunders' Donna is another powerhouse, delivering a tear-jerker of a performance in episode 4 that stuck with me for a long time after.

Levels of anxiety rise in the town, not only as their survival is threatened by a food shortage, but also as the creatures stalking around at night begin to behave differently.
Alongside its established characters are newcomers who offer new insight into the town from different perspectives. The standout is Robert Joy as Henry, a character Tabitha meets on the outsidewho holds a mysterious connection to the town. His appearance offers a compelling dynamic that deepens the mystery. However,Fromis still able to juggle his story alongside the rest of its mysteries without ever feeling overcrowded despite the sheer number of events happening all at once.

From Season 3 Amps Up The Horror In Frightening New Ways
Terrifying Moments Define The Newest Episodes
While maintaining its engaging story and characters,Fromseason 3 also includes some of the most terrifying moments in the series' history. Levels of anxiety rise in the town, not only as their survival is threatened by a food shortage, but also as the creatures stalking around at night begin to behave differently. This leads to the show’s most gruesome, upsetting death since season 1. It’s the first domino in a long line of horrific events, cementing how much worse things will become if the residents can’t find a way to leave.
However, this horror occasionally makes the show feel like it’s going in circles, with one bad day after another diminishing the morale of the characters. One event in episode 3 stands out as the most disappointing story turn, making it feel like the show will be stuck in a cycle of hopelessness forever. Though I’ve only seen the first half of the season, the series' current direction makes it seem like it won’t ease up on the suffering anytime soon.

The Penguin Episode 1 Review: Batman’s Gotham Hasn’t Been This Well Done In Decades
Colin Farrell’s Batman villain shines in HBO’s new DC spin-off. Is this the best episode of DC TV ever made?
Despite this, however, the terrifying atmosphere ofFromis more gripping than ever before. The events that unfold are some of the wildest and most unpredictable so far.It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time, with a new revelation or twist to the overarching mystery featured every episode. The rising tension in these first five episodes darkly hints at even more terrors to come as well, cementing season 3 as the best the show has ever been.
With gripping characters, powerful mysteries, and a dark storyline filled with memorable, horrific moments,Fromseason 3 offers its most compelling narrative since season 1. Stellar performances and a continued buildup of the horror series' mysteries overshadow the hopeless tone and circular storytelling of some episodes. Even with some hiccups in the plot, it appears season 3 is poised to offer some important connective tissue that will reveal more about the town, and hopefully provide concrete answers along the way.
Fromseason 3 premieres Sunday, September 22 on MGM+. Subsequent episodes are released weekly every Sunday.
