Warning: This list contains spoilers for Helluva Boss up to the end of season 2.Helluva Bossis a chaotic show from the pilot to its most recent season finale, showing off a wild vision of Hell and the demons who live there through their daily escapades as they strive to rise to the top.Helluva Bossis the other adult animated series fromHazbin Hotelcreator Vivienne Medrado, available on her YouTube channel “VivziePop.” WhileHazbin Hotel’s storyshows what the devil and his daughter are up to,Helluva Bossfollows Blitzø (Brandon Rogers) and his company of fellow Imp assassins, known as I.M.P. (Immediate Murder Professionals), who kill people in the living world.

With Imps being the working class of Hell, Blitzø and his employees — including his adoptive daughter Loona (Erica Lindbeck) and married couple Moxxie (Richard Steven Horvitz) and Millie (Vivian Nixon) — relentlessly fight an uphill battle with vulgar humor and vibrant style. The best episodes ofHelluva Bossdemonstrate a combination of the show’s smartest adult jokes and the underlying themes of classism and troubled relationships,as well as making the most of the typically 20-minute narrative format.Helluva Bossis also more episodic thanHazbin Hotel, with each episode offering a contained adventure, and essentially its own color palette.

21Season 1, Episode 4: “C.H.E.R.U.B”

The Cherubs Are Super Annoying During One Of IMP’s Least Satisfying Missions

Early in the show, a trio of Cherubs are introduced, running the opposite business of I.M.P. in Heaven. Keenie (Vivienne Medrano), Cletus (Don Darryl Rivera), and Collin (Jayden Libran) are intentionally written as annoyingly self-righteous, but there is a better way to use them than this episode does.

Helluva Bossalso includes some “Helluva Shorts” (episodes of only a few minutes each) and music videos featuring the main characters.

Leviathan, Asmodeus, Beelzebub, Mammon, and Belphegor in the chorus of Hell

While “C.H.E.R.U.B” has its moments of decent comedy,it is largely the worst kind of filler as the Imps and Cherubs fight to respectively kill and save an elderly businessman. The conflict is unappealing, and the Imps keep making arguments that are needlessly pessimistic — even for this show.

20Season 2, Episode 10: “Ghostf*****s”

Bliztø’s Post-Breakup Halloween Adventure Falls Flat

The relationship between Blitzø and demon prince Stolas (Bryce Pinkham) is central toHelluva Boss’plot. This episode tries to offer more meaningful character development in the aftermath of their breakup, but others illustrate Blitzø’s complicated emotions better.

Every Episode of Hazbin Hotel, Ranked

Hit animated series Hazbin Hotel season 1 had some amazing episodes, but the best ones emphasize character development and epic musical solos.

The show has its fun with over-the-top ghostly horror for the Halloween special but follows a basic plot: Blitzø and Millie investigate a haunting, she confronts him about his recent destructive behavior, they comfort each other. Sadly, the best parts of this episode areHazbin Hotellead castmember Erika Henningsen’s cameo and Moxxie’s desperate attempts to figure out his finances.

19Season 1, Episode 1: “Murder Family”

Helluva Boss' Early Episodes Enjoy Gore & Vulgarity Without Much Substance

The early job of I.M.P. going to kill the mistress of a dead woman’s husband sets the stage with its outrageous events, but it is clear that the writers are still warming up when it comes to the show’s humor at this point. Moxxie is arguably mischaracterized by the scenario, while the story hasn’t quite figured out what it wants to do with Stolas yet when his character did undergo some revisions (viaLightweights Podcast). However, the episode is a strong entry point by leveraging the client’s perspective before she goes to Blitzø,who dramatically listens from the shadows.

18Season 2, Episode 5: “Unhappy Campers”

Moxxie & Millie’s Evolution & Barbie Wire’s First Appearance Should Have Made For A Better Episode

Moxxie and Millie’s job on their own goes awry with some of its jokes, as the couple infiltrates a crudely named camp to investigate a client’s death with obnoxiously gender-stereotyped disguises. If the episode had given them a mission with better humor baked in, it would have been stellar. On the positive side, there is real relationship development as Moxxie and Millie are not 100% on the same page for the first time and Moxxie learns something about being supportive, while Blitzø tracks down his wayward and equally hilariously vulgar sister Barbie Wire (Jinhee Joung).

17Season 1, Episode 0: “Pilot”

Helluva Boss Has A Good Start That Got Better Over Time

Helluva Boss’pilot is mainly a weaker episode because its very nature means that the characters and story aren’t as developed. However, it is surprisingly enjoyable upon rewatching when right away, the humor is all over the place, the characters are ruthless, and some comments lay the groundwork for bigger storylines. Blitzø says in I.M.P.’s advert: “I really wanted to prove that we’re capable of doing the same things anyone else can…like killing people.” It maybe wasn’t clear what the deeper meaning of this was originally, but the pilot only becomes a stronger prelude after watching the rest of the series.

16Season 1, Episode 7: “Ozzie’s”

Helluva Boss' Sin Of Lust Has A Dazzling Debut In An In-Between Episode

“Ozzie’s” introduces the riotous characters of Asmodeus “Ozzie” (James Monroe Ingleheart) and Fizzarolli (Alex Brightman),the latter of whom previously appeared as a robot version of himself. The episode is somewhat open-ended, as it mostly highlights the toxicity of Blitzø and Stolas' arrangement, while other couples have wholesome moments — which are admittedly nice moments. The episode’s biggest draw is the beautifully rendered setting and jazzy musical sequence, with a surprise appearance by Blitzø’s ex Verosika (Cristina Vee). “Ozzie’s” is essentially a connector necessary to move the story forward, but does so with great style.

15Season 1, Episode 8: “Queen Bee”

The Queen Bee Of Gluttony Sets The Stage For Some Cute Blitzø & Loona Moments

Only slightly above “Ozzie’s” is the shorter episode that comes right after it, “Queen Bee,” the main event of which is also the introduction of the title character – Beelzebub, ironically voiced by Kesha. It also establishes some vital plot points and character traits of Loona and Blitzø’s different insecurities, with a glamorous musical number thrown in.

Every Seven Deadly Sin In The Hazbin Hotel & Helluva Boss Universe, Explained

Ancient religious texts have heavily informed how the Seven Deadly Sins and other demons are depicted in Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss.

However, this episode gets bonus points for the weird bonding that happens between Blitzø and Loona;even though he is self-destructing, they are both there for each other immediately and she even calls him “dad” for the first time when she brings him home.

14Season 2, Episode 4: “Western Energy”

Two Incidental Storylines Highlight The Dark, Absurd Comedy Of Helluva Boss

The action and comedy really step up for a perfect juxtaposition with the return of the evil cowboy Striker (Edward Bosco). When Stolas is kidnapped by Striker and suddenly in real danger, Moxxie and Millie strike out to handle it on their own (way more effectively than in “Unhappy Campers”). Meanwhile, Blitzø is playing out that absolutely hilarious scenario of trying to get a terrified Loona through getting a “Hellbies” shot. The somewhat throwaway episode has a strong combination of wacky action, sharp jokes, and thematic weight, as Blitzø is shocked by Stolas actually being injured.

13Season 2, Episode 1: “The Circus”

Blitzø & Stolas' First Meeting Reveals The Dreams That Led To IMP

The flashback toStolas and Blitzø’s first meeting as children has the feeling of childhood, before the last third returns to their harsh adult reality. It reveals vital details about the friendship they once had before the complications of adulthood, as well as how Stolas has hated being in an arranged marriage with the cruel Stella (Georgina Leahy). While softer on the vulgar comedy and brutal action that many come to the show for, “The Circus” putsHelluva Boss’best charactersin a new light by showing how their past affects their present.

12Season 2, Episode 9: “Apology Tour”

Blitzø Apologizes To Everyone To Prove A Point While Stolas Goes To A Party

The episode immediately after Blitzø and Stolas' breakup dives headfirst into the emotional baggage. The opening sequence is still genuinely funny as Blitzø contradictorily goes to Stolas' house to attempt to re-establish their causal relationship and Stolas shares that he has been invited by Verosika to a party of Blitzø’s exes. It could have been better when it makes the relationship problems seem one-sided, but with a fantastic musical number and a deeper exploration of Blitzø’s character than ever before, this is a strong addition to the building tensions between the characters in the second half of season 2.
