Dungeons of Hinterbergonly has a few bosses you must beat to finish the game, but the high-flying Windsbraut can be one of the trickiest to take down. This butterfly creature soars way above your character, making it difficult to pin down as you fight. You’ll need to use different tools from around the environment where you battle Windsbraut to even the odds against the boss across two phases.

There are other enemies you have to fight alongside Windsbraut, so ensure you haveboosted character stats inDungeons of Hinterbergbeforehand. This will help you become strong enough to face the boss and the minions it constantly summons. Since Windsbraut is only fought at the end of a dungeon, you need to have certain abilities unlocked to even reach the butterfly in the first place.

How To Reach The Windsbraut Boss

Explore The Right Dungeon And Defeat Enemy Waves

You can find Windsbrautwithin the Windsbraut Treetop dungeon, which shouldn’t be too surprising given how both share a name. Enemies here arelisted to be around Level 8, giving you a good idea about how strong you need to be before challenging this boss. Unlike a lot of other dungeons you explore, this area is straightforward to complete, without too many obstacles on the way to the boss.

Passing through the glowing blue gateway into the Windsbraut Treetop will lead you immediately into an area where you fight several waves of basic enemies. These range from small spiders to shamans with shields you’ll have to target first as you fight.Use special abilities to thin enemy wavesto make it easier to take them down without losing too much health before taking on Windsbraut.

Once you clear the enemies, you canactivate one of your special abilities to capture the glowing purple orbswithin the area. These orbsexplode after a short time when thrownand stick to surfaces you aim at. Throw an orb at the glowing bulb hanging under the stairway blocked by sludge to dissolve everything blocking your way from heading up to the higher points of Windsbraut Treetop.

Keep using your abilities to raise wooden platforms and collect more orbs to clear the path forward. When you see wind being manipulated in a huge ring, you’ll have reached the Windsbraut boss' arena, a large space with a single platform. On this platform is a horn, which may come into play as the butterfly attacks after a brief cutscene introduction as you enter its space inDungeons of Hinterberg.

How To Defeat Windsbraut (Phase 1)

Attract The Butterfly And Clip Its Wings

As the fight starts, Windsbraut willsummon four enemies from the previous wavesat the beginning of the dungeon to attack you. However, these enemies are slow and can be easily ignored as you run around the battlefield and focus on the one foe that matters. Windsbraut has four wings that help it fly around to different edges of the arena and create huge gusts of wind and various projectiles aimed at you.

Similar to theMarbled Gohma fromZelda: TOTK, you have totarget the four glowing weak points on the Windsbraut’s wingsto destroy them. As you fight, the boss will create those purple exploding orbs from earlier in the dungeon. When your special ability is ready, capture one of these orbs and aim to throw them at the boss' weak spotsas it moves around.

This process may seem too hard at first, butyou can attract Windsbraut to stay in one placebyblowing the horn on the raised platform in the arena. As you can see in the above video by YouTube creatorScrapHavilon, you can use one of the protagonist’s special abilities to reach this spot. The tornado skill you have can help place you on the platform and blow the horn to lure Windsbraut to the front of the battlefield.

Wherever you aim an exploding orb, your camera will adjust to show you the arc direction you can toss the item. Carefully adjust your aim so that an orb directly hits the weak point of Windsbraut, as doing this causes a wing to automatically explode.

Every time you manage to land a hit with the exploding orbs, one of Windsbraut’s wings is destroyed, taking out about 25% of its health too.Destroy all four wings to ground the boss, preventing it from escaping any direct attacks. This transitions this boss fight fromDungeons of Hinterberginto its second phase, which is far easier to approach than the first.

How To Defeat Windsbraut (Phase 2)

Unleash All Your Attacks At Once

When Windsbraut can no longer fly, you shouldunleash every skill you haveanddeal the highest amount of damage you can fast. Windsbraut gains an additional health bar after its first one is destroyed, but you can’t expect exploding orbs to do all the work now. Similarly, the horn won’t help you distract the boss as it uses a variety of new attack patterns to try and fight back while on the ground.

This second phase battle is similar to all other enemy fights inDungeons of Hinterberg’s charming combat, with Windsbraut capable of being staggered if attacked enough times. Use these opportunities to unleash highly damaging skills on the boss while its down.
