Dragon Ball Daimahas been a return to the series' roots, reestablishing the wonder that defined earlyDragon Ball. And the newly introducedDemon Realm has that once lost element in spades, packed to the brim with many of Akira Toriyama’s trademark vehicles, landscapes, and magic. Having already given further context to previously established lore, the newest episode #4 has introduced a successor to the series' Senzu Beans.

In an episode filled with exciting action and the first glimpse at the wayits new main villain Gomahrules the realm, the fact that a detail as small as this holds major implications is a testament toDragon Ball’s worldbuilding. As the trio of Goku, Supreme Kai, and Glorio continue on their adventure, searching for a replacement plane, they come across what’s described as a souvenir. It turns outthese souvenirs can hold healing powers, and they’re absolutely disgusting.

Daima’s New Senzu Beans Are Literally Bugs

They May Be Powerful, But They’re Hard to Swallow

Senzu Beans have become a staple ofDragon Ball’s battles since their introduction to the series, helping out the heroes, and a villain, on numerous occasions. Having the power to heal the user from any physical injury once eaten,Senzu Beans have gotten fighters out of a pinchduring nearly every major arc. Now,Dragon Ball Daimahas solved the issue of their nonexistence in the Demon Realm by simply introducing new ones.

Revive Bugs promise to have the same effect on their users as Earth’s Senzu Beans, healing any physical injury sustained during battle.Unfortunately for the characters, they’re dead insects. Goku doesn’t seem to mind eating bugs, showing eagerness to try them out during the latest episode. Glorio and Supreme Kai, however, are not so eager to dine on the wonder bugs.

Medi-Bugs Offer Exciting New Possibilities for Dragon Ball Daima

Medi-Bugs Might Introduce a New Fusion

The Revive Bugs were not the only mystical insects introduced duringDaima’s latest episode, as the merchant tending the store in which the trio went shopping offered several different kinds for sale. There are bugs to soothe burns, heal headaches, and even make the user’s skin silky-smooth. The most intriguing, though, is the Join Bug, described as havingthe power to fuse two beings together.

It’s not a stretch to assume thatDaimais foreshadowing fusion somewhere down the line, one ofDragon Ball’s most beloved transformations. While having Vegito or Gogeta being the result of eating Join Bugs is unlikely, the prospect of a brand-new fusion may be even more exciting.Dragon Ball Daimahas introduced several intriguing additions to the franchise in the few episodes that have been released, and Medi-Bugs are its newest, and most disgusting. Combat has yet to steal the series' spotlight, but expect the use of Revive Bugs whenever it does.
