There are few things that can frustrate viewers more than a repeated trope that feels like it isn’t going anywhere, and unfortunately,Dragon Ball Daimafell into this category. There has been one repeated plot device that’s been used a bit too much. The obstacles surrounding the team’s transportation constantly put a stop to any progress and delay Goku and his friends’ journey.

Every few episodes, the ship seems to be stolen, crashed, or mechanically fails. However, as tedious as this repeated obstacle is, it has meaning. The trouble with transportation in the Demon Realm could be attributed to some meticulous and cunning planning going on behind the scenes.

The Team’s Ship Faced Constant Issues Throughout the Series

The Repeated Trope Has a Very Interesting and Clever Hidden Reason

One of the most notable and frustrating patterns inDaimahas been theconstant roadblocks surrounding the Z-fighter’s ships. No matter how far the team traveled or how close they got to achieving their goals or reaching their destination, their progress is inevitably stopped by a breakdown, thievery, or crashing. While this trope could easily come across as a lazy attempt to add tension or slow the plot, it actually serves a deeper purpose. These interruptions forced the characters into high-stakes encounters and couldeasily function as a deliberate attempt to stall the group.

Dragon Ball Daima Collides With One Piece Thanks To an Unexpected Crossover

Dragon Ball’s latest installment shares an unexpected similarity with One Piece’s ongoing arc, and it’s something fans of both series will respect.

It was revealed that Glorio is working for Arinsu, and the repeated issues surrounding the group’s transportation could easily be meticulously planned sabotage to keep Goku and his friends grounded. This goal makes sense and is asimple yet effective way of buying Dr. Arinsu enough time to secure the Dragon Ballof the First Demon Realm. By hindering the team’s progress, Glorio is able to quietly serve Arinsu behind the scenes and turns what was once an annoying narrative tic into a clever, calculated strategy.

With Recent Events, the Trope Likely Won’t Continue in the Future

Dragon Ball Daima Is About To Enter the Most Important Leg of the Journey Yet

Despite the seemingly endless obstacles surrounding the Z-fighter’s ship, recent developments make it unlikely that the problems will persist. With Arinsu gaining a Dragon Ball and Glorio in possession of the other two, it’s unlikely that either will want to delay any further progress. There’s no longer a strategic need to slow the group down, and the story can unfold at a more natural and engaging pace.

This shift may also signify that the story is finally heading toward the immense brewing threats laid out by Arinsu. While Shin has his suspicions, the Z-fighters are largely unaware of Glorio’s betrayal or the Majin awaiting them. This sets Goku and his friends up for a fight they are not prepared for, and historically speaking, theZ-fighters never had good luck when faced with unexpected threats. All that is certain is thatDragon Ball Daimais poised to challenge Goku and his friends more than any of them expect.
