Dragon Ball Daimais an incredibly fresh take on a franchise that spans 40 years of celebrated releases. In a return to the series' roots,Dragon Ball’s latest anime takes Goku and the rest of Earth’s iconic heroes on an adventure through the vast and mysterious Demon Realm,in which both friends and enemies are made in search of the Dragon Balls. The series features a near-perfect blend of the whimsical adventure that defined Akira Toriyama’s manga in its early stages, and the ferocious combat that took over its second half.
Following a final act that was home to breathtaking visuals and the return of a beloved Super Saiyan transformation, Goku and company headed back towards their ship going home, but not before a quick pit stop at the convenience store the series' main trio visited earlier in the story. With one last plot twist,Dragon Ball Daimacame to a close,leaving the door wide openfor a continuation or sequel series sometime in the future, one that could offer many new, exciting possibilities.

Earth’s Heroes Haven’t Left the Demon Realm Just Yet
Following the climactic battle with Gomah, whichreintroduced Super Saiyan 4to the canon world ofDragon Ball, the now adult versions of the heroes were set to head back to Earth. Goku, insisting on visiting the store that stocked medi-bugs from earlier in the adventure, dragged the cast along on his shopping trip.There, Panzy discovers a jar containing another two Evil Eyes, the artifact which gave Gomah his immense power.
The final episode then cuts to an ending title card, capping off the series with one final gag by the master himself, Akira Toriyama. Though the major battle is finished,the ending doesn’t exactly put a bow onDaima’s story. The main cast is never seen leaving the Demon Realm, and Goku agrees to return and helpthe new ruler, Majin Kuu, in case another threat appears. Given the series' placement within the official timeline of events, there’s plenty of time for the creators to squeeze in another Demon Realm adventure before Beerus arrives.
Daima’s placement within the series' canonis still a cause for disagreement within theDragon Ballcommunity, and a follow-up season will offer a chance to clear up any confusion caused in its first go-round. The teased Join Bugs, which went unused in the final battle, can also be addressed,and introduce the brand-new fusion fans assumed would appear.
A Daima Continuation Should Make Use of Other Characters
Missing or Sidelined Characters Deserve Some Shine
By the timeDragon Ball Daima’s final battle had officially begun, the series' main cast had been together for some time.Dragon Ballis Goku’s story, and functions best that way, though both fans and the series' overall narrative could have benefited from other characters having stronger roles within the story. Vegeta was given ample room to shine, but others like Piccolo and even Glorio were largely absent from any of the anime’s major conflicts, whileanother character was absent fromDaimaentirely.
Dragon Ball’s latest anime adventure is slotted comfortably during the period in which Gohan fell from grace. Once Goku’s successor as the series' protagonist and strongest fighter by the end of the Buu Saga, Gohan became an afterthought by the time Beerus arrived in search of the Super Saiyan God. BecauseDaimatakes place just after the Buu Saga, however, Gohan is still likely to have a similar level of power to Goku and Vegeta,and would prove useful in a future Demon Realm journey.
A return would also benefit from giving Piccolo more room to shine,givenDaima’s reveal that Namekians originate from the Demon Realm. Further exploration into the origins of Namekians told through a Piccolo-centric story would make for an excellent expansion of the series' lore. As for a potential villain, another non-canon character would fit perfectly within the setting.

Janemba, the main villain of 1995’sDragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn,is a fan-favorite due to his unique design and move set, and fans have been calling for a canon appearance of the villain since the premiere ofDragon Ball Super,twenty years after his debut.Now, there’s no better place for Janemba to return than in the Demon Realm. The villain was originally born from the carelessness of the Saike Demon, who became exposed to incredible evil energy while working for King Yemma in Hell.
All the Original Dragon Ball Movies Are Now Easier To Watch Than Ever
Even the most hardcore Dragon Ball and DBZ fans have had trouble finding a way to watch all of the franchises' movies and TV specials until now.
WhileDaimawould likely have to rewrite his entire origin story, Janemba,being a demon himself, would naturally belong to the Demon Realm. Perhaps created as another new Majin, like Kuu and Duu, an all-new Janemba would prove a fearsome foe when attaining an Evil Eye of his own. Like the original film,Daimawould also have the opportunity tofinally visit the fusionit teased throughout its entirety, and never utilized. The setting makes almost too much sense for a Janemba return, as long as the series is willing to return a forgotten character.
