Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor and Varada Sethu’s new companion Belinda are drafted into a high-tech operation in newDoctor Whoseason 15 images. The long-running sci-fi series will return to Disney+ worldwide and BBC iPlayer in the UK in April, as the Time Lord finds himself helping a young nurse make her way back home to Earth. Alongside Gatwa and Sethu,Doctor Whoseason 15will follow up on previous companion Ruby Sunday’s story as she embarks on her own adventure, with Millie Gibson reprising her role.
RadioTimesnow shares a pair of images from an upcoming episode ofDoctor Whoseason 15 that throws the Fifteenth Doctor into a new scenario. In the first image below,the Doctor is standing in line with a team of humans, seemingly trading his usual stylish wardrobe for a set of military fatigues. Before him stands a large red robot passing and potentially inspecting the line-up he is part of. The second image focuses on Belinda, as the young nurse prepares an IV drip in a tunnel. The TARDIS Is Flying Into A Deadlier Universe
With both images pulled from an early episode in the season,it seems thatDoctor Whoseason 15 is taking on a drastically different tonewhen compared to Gatwa’s debut run. While “73 Yards” and “Dot and Bubble” featured impactful, hard-hitting tales, the otherepisodes inDoctor Whoseason 14were lighter, more easygoing affairs for the TARDIS team that could ease newcomers into the show. As such, images of the Doctor preparing for conflict, whether willing or coerced, hint towards darker stories ahead.
Furthermore, the images highlight another stark difference when compared to the Doctor and Ruby’s travels throughout season 14, and that is perhaps the circumstances of their meeting. As revealed inpreviousDoctor Whoseason 15 trailers,Belinda is trying to get back to her own time on Earthafter being swept up in the Time Lord’s adventures, adding higher stakes from the get-go. While it is possible that the journey back home could be resolved partway through the season, the Doctor donning fatigues and aiding in this operation could hint that the pair may be forced into certain scenarios to get home.
