With the latest Dapper Delights update toDisney Dreamlight Valley, the third and final act of theA Rift in Time DLChas arrived, and with it, a unique and complex quest, The Now and Then quest.After returning to where you left off in the DLC storyline, you will eventually find yourself on a black-and-white island reminiscent of the past.
Landing on this retro island is what will officially initiate the beginning of The Now and Then quest. Your first task is simply to explore the island, so while doing that, keep an eye out for Mickey and speak with him to find out a little bit about what’s going on. While he’s glitching in and out of his classic Steamboat Willy appearance, he’ll give you the first steps to getting off this island.

Where To Find All Black and White Island Items
The Lantern, Hot Dog Kart, and Gaston’s Ship
Mickey will ask you to look around for some stuff on the island that can help you guysstop Jafar from taking over Eternity Isle. The first item you’ll need to grab is the projector, which can be found near Mickey. Once you have it, bring it back to him, and he’ll help you use it to create a rift that leads back to Jafar’s Throne Room.Unfortunately, the rift is out of reach, so you’ll need to find some other things on the island to help you get to it.
At this point, you’ll need to find three islands you may use to build something.The three items include the Lantern, Hot Dog Kart, and Gaston’s Ship, which is retrieved from a chest using the chest key.Though the island is small, some of the items can be tricky to find and easy to miss, especially since everything is in black and white.
Location
Gaston’s Ship (Chest Key & Chest)
The first item needed to get Gaston’s Ship, the chest key, can be found by fishing on Black and White Island.The fishing spot is directly left of where the return/spawn point on the island is.Use your fishing rod to retrieve the key. Once you have the key, head back to where the ramp leads up to Mickey.Instead of going up, look to the right of the base of the ramp, and you should notice a large hole in the cliffside that is a little hard to see as it is being blacked by a large breakable rock. Break that rock, and you’ll find a chest containing Gaston’s Ship.
Lantern
On the right side of the return/spawn point on the island, opposite where you fished for the Chest Key, you should see a large rock with a Lantern stuck at the bottom of it with Pascal on it.Use your pickaxe to break the rock and collect the Lantern.
Hot Dog Kart
The next item, the Hot Dog Kart, can be found at the top, where Mickey is. On the opposite side of where the projector is, there will be a large breakable rock. Break it, and you will see a handle sticking out of the ground.Use your shovel to dig up this handle to retrieve the Hot Dog Kart.
Once you have all three necessary items, return them to Mickey.A small cutscene will begin in which a makeshift flying boat will be constructed, and you’ll be able to fly up to the rift and escape Black and White Island.You’ll land in Jafar’s Throne Room where you’ll be prompted to begin speaking with him. This conversation may start to feel a bit familiar as Jafar will be baited into wishing to be a Genie, lamp and all, much like what occurs at the end ofAladdin.

Stop Jafar & Share The Spark of Imagination With Everyone
After Jafar ends up trapped inside his Genie Lamp, speak with Mickey, who will congratulate you on your genius. However,Mickey is still glitching into Steamboat Willy, but he thinks he knows a way to fix it.Grab Jafar’s Lamp and the Spark of Imagination, at last, and go speak to Merlin near the exit of the palace.After some discussion, it’s decided that locking the Spark away is too risky, so the better alternative is to share it with everyone.
Meet everyone outside the palace for a charming cutscene in which Mickey will finally return to normal.This will officially mark the end of the A Rift In Time DLC, but if the ending teaser is anything to go off of,Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas plenty more in store for its players in the future. Don’t forget, you should also be able to begin The Lesser Evil quest now, after picking up a strange 2D item on Eternity Isle, which will unlock Jafar as a villager.
