New seasons ofDiablo 4love to introduce new items, some of which are essential to unlocking the new seasonal content. In Season 5, if you want to fight the Infernal Hordes of Hell, you’ll need to find an Infernal Compass. These Compasses unlock portals to Hell, with different item Tiers introducing stronger Infernal Hordes.
Infernal Compasses are similar to Nightmare Sigils, which open up specific Nightmare Dungeons for further enemy grinding. Each Compass you collect will let you know the details of the Infernal Horde it is about to throw you at, such as the wave cap. The more Compasses you collect, the harder you’ll strike against theInfernal Hordes of Hell.

Diablo 4 Season 5 Leveling Guide
Getting all the way leveled up in a new season of Diablo 4 can be a challenge, but there are tips and tricks to make this grind easier and faster.
How To Farm Infernal Compasses
Seasonal Quest Completion
Infernal Compasses are essentialnew items inDiablo 4: Season 5. As such, actually farming multiple Compasses requires progress in the storyline for the new season. Specifically, you’ll have to complete two new quests; “The Eyes of the Enemy” and “To the Edge of the Abyss.” You’ll need to have unlockedWorld Tier 3 (Nightmare)and head to Zarbinzet to meet Locan, who will guide you through these quests.
“The Eyes of the Enemy” leads into “To the Edge of the Abyss”. This latter quest features your first use of an Infernal Compass as you battle the Infernal Horde. This marks the end of the main quests for Season 5. After this quest, you can begin to farm Infernal Compasses from multiple sources.

If you don’t want to get into a fight just for the sake of an Infernal Compass, you cancraft them with an Occultist by spending Sigil Powder and Forgotten Souls, but since you also use Sigil Powder for Nightmare Sigils, you may want to be careful with this approach.
Helltides inDiablo 4are among the best ways to get Infernal Compasses. As you battle through a Helltide, you’ll collect Aberrent Cinders and kill Doomsayers.Doomsayers drop Infernal Compasses, while Aberrent Cinders can be used to unlockChests of Mystery and Chests of Steel. These chests have a chance of containing an Infernal Compass. If you struggle to get Aberrent Cinders in Helltides, you may also open Whisper Caches, which can be obtained via the Tree of Whispers.

The other way to get Infernal Compasses inDiablo 4is bycompleting Nightmare Dungeonsor running throughThe Pit. There is a chance for Infernal Compasses to drop while fighting in either of these areas. you may also collect Sigil Powder from excess Nightmare Sigils to craft more Infernal Compasses with the Occultist.
Upgrading Infernal Compasses
Infernal Compass Tiers
Infernal Compasses come in multiple Tiers, but if you want the best Tiers possible, you’ll have to upgrade the Tier 1, 2, and 3 Compasses that typically drop during play. You can upgrade Infernal Compasses with Abyssal Scrolls, another new material inDiablo 4: Season 5. You can get Abyssal Scrolls like you get Infernal Compasses: via completion of Nightmare Dungeons, The Pit, Whisper Caches, and Helltides.
you may also find Abyssal Scrolls as you battle the Infernal Hordesand defeat members of the Fell Council. Once you use an Abyssal Scroll on an Infernal Compass, you won’t be able to reverse the upgrade, but considering that you’ll be able to get into stronger battles with the Infernal Horde, there’s no reason to do so. Thanks to these Abyssal Scrolls, it’s easy to upgrade Infernal Compasses inDiablo 4.
