In announcing the show’s renewal, Paramount+ cited how well the series has done in terms of viewership. According to their numbers, theDexter: Original Sinseason finale had 2.68 million viewers, making it the most-watched episode of the season. The series also had over 15 million social media engagements across the season. These factors contributed to the prequel series becoming Showtime’s most-streamed series in 10 years. Season 2 may beDexter: Original Sin’s time to shine. While the series' reviews were positive overall, the spinoff prequel only got a68% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes, which is lower thanDexter’s overall 71% rating and quite a bit lower than some of the original show’s better-reviewed seasons.
