Hugh Jackman played a more comic-accurate Wolverine inDeadpool & Wolverine, and new art shows one of his variants interacting more meaningfully in theMCUmovie.Deadpool & Wolverine’s cameoswere a highlight of the film, andone of the most notable was a short version of Wolverine, with Hugh Jackman’s face superimposed on a much shorter actor’s body.Standing at 6 ft 2 in, Jackman is nearly a foot taller than Wolverine’s canonical height of 5 ft 3 in. However, new fan art shows the shorter version of his hero in an important scene in the film.
In a recent post to X byMarvel Latin News, the titular heroes ofDeadpool & Wolverineare shown walking in front of Liefeld’s Just Feet in a shot many will recognize from the trailer and the movie itself. There is, however, a significant adjustment made, with Wolverine in his yellow and black suit standing about a foot shorter than Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool. The two are seen preparing for battle in the street.

The image is humorous, as was the cameo in the film. Reactions to the image have included laughing emojis, with one user referring to it as the"Biblically accurate Wolverine.“Following the appearance of this image and the clamoring for a comic-accurate Wolverine to replace Jackman in the MCU, it is worth considering if a shorter Wolverine is the right choice for a future iteration of the character.
Should Marvel’s Wolverine Replacement Be Comics-Accurate Height?
Another Tall Actor Could Play The Iconic Marvel Role
There was some controversy when Hugh Jackman was first cast as Wolverine more than two decades ago due to the actor’s stature. However, that has gone away over the years.Jackman has performed the character for so long and to such success that he has reframed many of the details that matter about the character. While Wolverine’s height is a component of his identity, there are more important things to focus on, like his ferocity, his malaise, and his relationships with the rest of his team.
I’ve Changed My Mind After Deadpool & Wolverine, I Don’t Want A Short Wolverine In The MCU Anymore
Deadpool & Wolverine gave audiences what they’ve been calling for, but I don’t think a short Wolverine actually worked in the live-action MCU.
There are manypopular casting choices for Wolverine in the MCU, some of which are closer to his canonical height, including Daniel Radcliffe at 5 ft 5 in. However, height is such a minor component of the character. There would be some fun in seeing a shorter Wolverine in the films, but, as theEaster eggs inDeadpool & Wolverineproved, this is mostly a gimmick. What is more important is that Marvel casts a performer who can embody the more complex details of Wolverine to play the character in the MCU movies, regardless of height.

Theending ofDeadpool & Wolverineis fairly open, and it is possible that theMCU will not recast Wolverine, continuing with Jackman in the role for some time. However, at some point, another actor will certainly portray the character. When this eventually happens, it is important that the focus of that casting not come down to the actor’s height. There are much more important things to confront with Wolverine following the events ofDeadpool & Wolverine. The MCU will certainly be faithful to his character, if not his height.
