Vandal Savage and Killer Frost Join Deathstroke in Getting EPIC High-Fantasy Redesigns forDark Knights of SteelSequel
Vandal Savage and Killer Frost are introduced followingDeathstroke’s brutal battle against Jarl Black Mask, which ended with Slade sending a crossbow arrow through the nobleman’s eye. The connection between these three living rogues quickly becomes apparent: Vandal had hired Deathstroke for his mercenary services, and following the success against Black Mask, Vandal eagerly seeks to continue their partnership. It’s clear thatSlade holds no personal loyalty to Savage himself, merely entertaining him for the sake of the coin in his purse. In contrast, Killer Frost appears to be firmly dedicated as Vandal’s second-in-command, demonstrating unwavering loyalty.
Savage and Frost make a striking debut in the series, notably for their redesigned character appearances, which depart significantly from their traditional costumes and looks, especially Frost’s. Ditching modern attire, the two villains are portrayed in outfits perfectly suited for the high-fantasy setting, adorned with furs and leather armor that harmonize with the wintry landscape.Their distinctive hairstyles, characterized by long locks, braids, and Nordic-inspired hair adornments, evoke the Viking age. Frost, in particular, stands out with the liberal use of black grease around her eyes, adding to her menacing appearance.

Deathstroke’s Axe-Wielding Viking Look Makes the Regular Mercenary Seem Like a Joke (Cosplayers, Pay Attention)
Deathstroke trades in his dual katanas and guns for a war axe, transforming into the ultimate Viking warlord in Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter.
Vandal Savage May Have a New Look, But He’s Still Pure Evil (& His Latest Atrocity Proves It)
Despite their updated looks, Frost and Savage’s villainous nature remains unchanged. This is evident as Savage instructs Deathstroke, accompanied by Killer Frost, to capture what Vandal calls a ‘monster’. However, it’s revealed later that the ‘monster’ is actually a young boy connected to Slade’s ex-wife, prompting Deathstroke to turncoat and protect the boy from Frost. Future solicitations suggest that this boy will play a pivotal role, potentially bringing either prosperity or terror. Hence, it seems likely that theJustice Leaguevillain intends to exploit the child to further his agenda of humanity’s downfall, aligning with his notorious reputation from mainstream continuity.
Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter #1is available August 12, 2025, from DC Comics.
