Summary
Daredevil: Born Againstar Charlie Cox responds to the news of Robert Downey Jr. coming back to theMarvel Cinematic Universeas Doctor Doom. One of the biggest reveals to come out of San Diego Comic-Con 2024 was the surprise that Downey Jr. is making his way back tothe MCU timeline. Robert Downey Jr. is set to appear inAvengers: Doomsday, with this movie currently looking to be the actor’s first appearance in the franchise since his departure from the MCU in 2019 after Tony Stark’s death inAvengers: Endgame.
In a new interview withEntertainment Tonight, the announcement of Downey Jr. being tapped to playDoctor Doom in the MCUwas brought up, as the host asked if Charlie Cox hoped to cross paths with the actor in a future Marvel Studios project. Cox made it very clear that while he doesn’t know if that is in store for him, Downey Jr. is someone he would love to share the screen with in the MCU, sharing the following:

Playing this character, I always hope my path will cross with all sorts of characters in the MCU and certainly he would be very high up on that list! God knows if that’s something that would/could ever happen. Certainly, now anything feels like now anything can happen, and I hope that it does!
The MCU Has 4 Perfect Ways To Kill Off The Council Of Kangs To Make Room For Doctor Doom
While Doctor Doom is the Multiverse Saga’s new main villain, the MCU could still use the Council of Kangs' death to set up multiple stories.
Will Charlie Cox’s Daredevil Be Part Of Avengers: Doomsday & Secret Wars?
Charlie Cox is set to make his comeback in the MCU in March 2025 whentheDaredevil: Born AgainTV showpremieres on Disney+, making him the first character in the franchise to get a second series. However, his journey afterDaredevil: Born Againis unclear, as Marvel Studios hasn’t revealed what is next for Matt Murdock. Naturally, this raises the question of whether Daredevil could show up inAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars.
With Phase 6 set to bring an end toThe Multiverse Saga, the nextAvengersmovies are bound to bring back as many characters as possible for the war against Doctor Doom. Given how Marvel Studios is making Daredevil one of the bigger players in the franchise, it would only make sense for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen to be part ofAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars. Having Matt inAvengers: Doomsdaywould also finally allow Daredevil to start connecting with the Avengers.

SinceAvengers: Secret Warshas been rumored to set up a soft reboot for the MCU, Phase 6 may be the final time that Daredevil can engage with this iteration of the franchise. If Marvel Studios is set to reimagine the MCU for Phase 7 and beyond, it would be a shame to not see Daredevil inAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars. Hopefully, afterDaredevil: Born Again,Marvel Studios will make it clear where Matt is going next in theMCU.
