Summary

The eventual clash betweenChainsaw Man’s dueling protagonists, Denji and Yoru, the War Devil, has been hinted at since the release of the very first illustration for Part Two of the series. In the most recent chapter #175, titled “Both Hands”, that battle has finally begun.Fighting Chainsaw Man has been Yoru’s goal throughoutthe entirety of her time in the story, though she’s been proven not to be strong enough to defeat him in her current state.

Pochita, in his Armored Chainsaw Man form, is not only immortal, with an erasing ability that is shown to be deadlier than any other power in the series, but is also currently on a rampage and showing no signs of slowing the carnage.Yoru’s odds, at this point, don’t seem very good. It’s impossible to gauge how she’s feeling or if she has some kind of plan, as in a classic Tatsuki Fujimoto move, mouths were erased in the previous chapter and characters have no way of verbally communicating anything to each other or the audience. Regardless, though the fighting has only just begun, the victor may already be clear.

Chainsaw Man Brings Denji’s History of Trauma Full Circle With Latest Incredible Twist

Denji’s struggles have continued in Chainsaw Man Part 2, but it seems Pochita is trying to help his best friend with his erasing powers.

Chainsaw Man Takes the Early Upper-Hand

With a Single Attack, Pochita Deals Massive Damage

Following chapter #173, all seemed to be under control when Yoshida restrained Chainsaw Man andforced him to throw up the Ear Devil. It was clear Public Safety had an agenda when influencing Denji to relinquish control to Pochita. However, following a brief cutaway to a meeting between Fumiko and Japanese officials, it seems the armored Chainsaw Man quickly broke free from Yoshida’s Octopus Devil, and resumed his rampage in ways Public Safety was not predicting. Now, with Yoshida, Fami, and Fumiko seemingly out of the picture, the task of defeating Pochita has been left to Yoru and Samurai Sword.

Both readied for a combo attack with assistance from the Aging Devil, hoping to take down the Hero of Hell in one move. But Pochita, standing readily, struck all three down with a single parry too fast for Fujimoto to even illustrate. All three lost their arms, and only Yoru was able to rise to her feet before the horrifically powerful Chainsaw Devil. It’s clear, at the present moment at least, thatYoru stands little chance of taking her nemesis down. With Pochita taking the early lead in the fight, something drastic must happen for the tides to turn.

Pochita’s Unpredictability Might Work in Yoru’s Favor

Full-power Chainsaw Man’s last appearance in the series came in the closing chapters of Part One, during the climactic final fight with Makima. Unlike the current situation, however,Pochita seemed somewhat disinterested in the battle, leaving partway through to eat a hamburger at a diner. When remembering Denji’s dream of taking a girl on a date, he grabbed Kobeni and took her to an arcade. It became clear that Pochita was desperately trying to fulfill Denji’s wishes and coerce him into taking control of his body back.

A similar situation might take place if Yoru swaps places with Asa,as Denji has made it clear throughout Part Two that he does like her. Noticing that Asa is kneeling in front of him, rather than Yoru, Pochita may let his guard down, allowing Yoru to quickly regain control and hit him with a surprise attack. He may be extremely powerful, but Makima was able to greatly injure Chainsaw Man during their fight, when threatening to harm Kobeni.

Yoru has been planning to force Chainsaw Man to throw up devils he ate in the past to regain her full power as the War Devil, but it’s also true that she has already been beaten in the past by the Hero of Hell when she was at full strength. Whatever Yoru’s plan may be, it had better be a good one, or else she has little chance of takingChainsaw Mandown. This confrontation has been teased since the beginning of Part Two, and readers have been eager to find out which of the two protagonists of the series will come out on top.
