Warning: Spoilers forBoruto: Two Blue VortexChapter #14
In chapter #13 ofBoruto: Two Blue Vortex,Koji Kashin’s vision of the futureteased the birth of a new Divine Tree Clone, who made his official appearance in the latest chapter. This new Shinju’s head resembled having short hair and had marks on its cheeks that connected to its eyes and hair, which opened the debate among the fans, theorizing that it was similar to the face paint of Shinki but also Naruto in Baryon Mode. However,Kankuro’s return in chapter #14 confirmed that Shinki was the base model of the new villain, Ryu.
While Shinki from Sunagakure, Gaara’s adopted son, hasn’t been much present inBoruto’s story, he is undoubtedly a strong character as he can use iron sand and magnet release, so the revelation of his chakra being harvested for the new Shinju clone not only introduces another powerful threat but alsosets the stage forBoruto: Two Blue Vortexto follow its predecessor steps and make its first major arc in Sunagakure, as in one of the best arcs inNaruto, the Kazekage Rescue Mission Arc.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Finally Sees the Debut of an Anticipated Naruto Character
Boruto’s next chapter has been confirmed to feature a fan-favorite character from the franchise’s first part.
Garaa’s Defeat Introduces a Possible Callback to the Kazekage Rescue Mission Arc
Boruto’s New Developments Show Ninjas From Other Villages Can Turn into Shinju
The revelation of Gaara’s defeat and that Shinki have been ate by a claw grime has paved the way to expandBoruto: Two Blue Vortex’s worldbuilding involving the ninjas from Sunagakure in the battle against the Shinju Clones, showing thereturn of beloved characters fromNaruto. This has opened the door for a callback to the first arc ofNaruto Shippuden, since the former Konohamaru’s team members could assist in a rescuing mission in Sunagakure, just like the former team Kakashi, revealing the parallels between both series.
The Kazekage Rescue Mission Arc wasNaruto’s first major arc after the time skip and Naruto’s return to the Hidden Leaf Village, similar to the current events inBoruto: TBV. Additionally, sinceit is hinted in chapter #13 that Sunagakure’s attack was perpetrated by Matsuri, as Mamushi said to Jura that she just came back, it also resembles the way Gaara was attacked by a member of Akatsuki, which represented the strongest characters at the time.
Moreover, even though Gaara is revealed to be alive, his condition is still unknown, and he is the most likely target of the new Shinju Ryu, so Konoha’s ninjas will probably be sent to protect him and retrieve the thorn soul bulb to save Shinki, which will be the perfect opportunity to flesh out the new powers of the characters after the time skip while showing the cooperation between both villages, like inNaruto’s arc.
Boruto Is the Probable Reason Sunagakure Was Attacked by the Shinju
Matsuri’s base model is Moegi, and his target is Konohamaru, which makes it unexpected that she didn’t tag along with Jura and Hidari to attack Konohagakure. However, sinceit was revealed during the flashback in chapter #13 that Koji Kashin’s hideout is located near the Land of Windand Mamushi said that Matsuri found out that Boruto had an accomplice, she probably came across Sunagakure while investigating and tracking down his whereabouts.
As Boruto’s first goal is to recover the thorn soul bulb and rescue Sasuke from his tree, he will surely join the battle against Ryu, which could not only help him gain more allies, but will also be an exciting match, as Shinki’s abilities will be enhanced as a Divine Tree, having the iron sand, puppet technique, rinnegan, claw marks, and wood release. Mitsuki could also be a great matchup against Ryu, as proved by the filler fight in the Chunin Exams Arc inBoruto’sanime.
Kazekage Rescue Mission Arc Was A Great Introduction toNaruto Shippuden
The Mission in Sunagakure Could Feature Sarada’s Big Moment
The Kazekage Rescue Mission arc, although underrated compared to arcs like Pain’s Assault, wasthe best introduction toNaruto’s Part II, showing emotional moments like Sasori’s past and Chiyo’s sacrifice, while also including gripping battles like Gaara vs. Deidara, which is one of the best fights based on strategy in the series, only losing to Hidan versus Shikamaru.
The arc also allowed secondary characters to shine like Guy in his fight with Kisame and feature Sakura’s most memorable battle in the entire series, so a similar narrative would be the perfect opportunity for Sarada to demonstrate her growth during the 3 years of the time skip and use her Mangekyo Sharingan in battle. Nevertheless, even if the current events take inspiration fromNaruto,Boruto: Two Blue Vortexstill have the chance to be better than its predecessor, as the story is raising the stakes withstronger enemies than the ones featured inNaruto.
