Summary
Boruto: Two Blue Vortexhas been heating up and setting the stage for the return of the series' longest-running villain and one of its best characters. A preview for chapter #13 teases that Konoha could be destroyed soon, and the current predicament Boruto finds himself in could herald the return of the nemesis he shares his body with,Momoshiki Otsutsuki.
The series has so far done a good job in involving characters from part 1, and alsohinting at the debut of Boruto’s new ally, a classic villain-turned-ally fromNaruto. Although the side cast has been gradually expanding, one character is yet to be seen but could very well make his return in the next chapter.

The official preview of chapter #13, shared on X by many users, including @howlxithree, includes the ominous sentence ““Konoha Falls!? Boruto is caught off guard! Jura pierces his chest”. While this may simply refer to the fact that, with Boruto down, there is no one else strong enough to oppose Jura, fans can’t help but connect it with the apocalyptic flash-forward seen at the beginning ofBoruto, with Konoha lying in ruins.
The Threat Of Jura Could Be Replaced By An Even Bigger One
There is an even bigger threat than Jura lying in wait, however. Momoshiki Otsutsuki has been very quiet since the series began, and although he almost took over Boruto a few chapters prior, his chance has come again now that the protagonist is fatally wounded. Boruto’s Karma sign began to react when Kawaki activated his own, and the latter could do it again to fight Jura. However, now that Boruto is wounded,he can’t run away as he did last time to avoid Momoshiki’s emergence.
In chapter #12 ofBoruto: Two Blue Vortex, the combined efforts of Boruto, Sarada, Konohamaru, and Kawaki take down Hidari, but a surprise attack from far away leaves Boruto with a serious injury. Boruto has been running around the village, using chakra-draining techniques such asthe Flying Thunder God and Rasengan Uzuhiko, making him more susceptible to Momoshiki’s tug of war for control. An injury that leaves him unable to move only makes the chances of his inner demon awakening even more possible.
What really seals the deal is the fact that Kawaki will very likely activate his Karma to fight Jura. Given that he hasn’t been training very hard for the past 3 years, this is his only way to fight stronger enemies. There is also the possibility he’ll use this chance to try and finish off Boruto, but in either scenario, he’ll have to activate Karma. This is where Momoshiki will take over, as Boruto has shown that he can’t control his Karma, and it awakens if he is near Kawaki with an activated Karma. With no way to put distance between him and his brother,Boruto would truly be caught between a rock and a hard place.
“Pitiful”: Boruto’s Ultimate Insult To Kawaki Officially Addresses The Series' Biggest Issue
Boruto insulting Kawaki for not training may be the series' way of addressing one of its biggest issues.
Momoshiki has taken over on two different occasions, and although he wreaked havoc such asdestroying Sasuke’s Rinnegan, this time could be much worse. Boruto has become exponentially stronger, acquiring new jutsu and becoming a master swordsman. This enhancement in strength will mean that if Momoshiki takes over, the damage he can cause will be incredible.
Boruto Could Take A Step Toward Mastering Karma
Boruto Could Become Even Stronger With The Otsutsuki Power
In the first few scenes ofBoruto: Naruto Next Generations, fans get to see Boruto and Kawaki clashing after activating their Karma. Boruto is gradually becoming that man shown, becoming a swordsman and receiving a scar on his eye. All that’s remaining now is himcontrolling the Karma and using it at will, and Momoshiki taking over could be a step in the right direction. It is very unlikely that Momoshiki will simply submit given how much he has antagonized Boruto, so the only option is for Boruto to dominate him instead.
Momoshiki’s comeback opens up many exciting possibilities and developments. It is also an interesting way to close out the arc and force Jura to retreat, an unlikely option at the moment. However, as the preview for chapter #13 reminded fans, Konoha’s destruction is still looming behind the corner, so it will be interesting to see howBoruto: Two Blue Vortexwill steer the story toward that catastrophe.
