Boruto: Two Blue Vortexis a huge shift in tone from the first part and has taken a darker and more grim approach to the story. However, a lack of deaths didn’t properly convey this aspect, but this is about to change asthe series hints that it might kill off one of the main charactersin its latest chapters. With the action about to kick off soon, fans shouldn’t be surprised if one of the beloved members of the main cast doesn’t live to see another day.
In chapter #17 ofBoruto: Two Blue Vortex, Team 7 surprisingly employed an interesting strategy to take down the Divine Trees Ryu and Matsuri, devised by Shikamaru. Since the Divine Trees are not inherently evil, Konoha’s team, composed of Konohamaru, Mitsuki, and Sarada, supported by Yodo and Araya from the Sand is supposed to befriend them, pretending they are also searching for the traitor Boruto, and then eliminate them once their guard is down.

Elsewhere, Kashin Koji and Boruto were monitoring what was happening through Eida’s power, and Boruto asked Kashin Koji about the failure rate of this strategy. Kashin Koji replies it is low, and this is when Boruto is irritated and asks him to tell the truth, which means thatKashin Koji could be hiding something about what will happen to Team 7.
Boruto Will See Its First Character Death in a Long Time
While the nature of the mission relies on deception at first and then confrontation later, it is still a highly dangerous mission that could turn sour at any moment. The Divine Trees have already proved themselves to be extremely formidable and dangerous. Shikamaru is taking advantage of the fact that they were just born and that they don’t attack unless attacked, and although it is a great plan, there is a very good chance it will backfire. The strategy is for Mitsuki, Yodo, Araya, andSarada to take down Ryu, and then rendezvous with Konohamaru to finish off Matsuri.
The major problem with this tactic is that there is a very big mismatch in strength between Ryu and the people ambushing him. While Shikamaru’s use of deception and surprise attacks does make up for this, there is not much that can be done if Ryu or Matsuri catches on to what is happening. Furthermore, the attacking power of the group is very limited, and while Mitsuki’s Sage Mode is very powerful, it might not be enough, as even Boruto had to use ahigh-charged Rasengan Uzuhiko, his ultimate ability, to take down Hidari. And even then, he needed the help of Sarada and Kawaki.

While it is anyone’s guess who might die,the chances that it is Konohamaru are high. Besides the trope of a master dying, like Jiraiya, Gojo, and others, being prevalent in shonen manga, he is also the most vulnerable. In his strategy meeting with Shikamaru, he was hesitant and unsure about manipulating Matsuri like that, and if this slight hesitation appeared in the actual mission, it could be fatal. Furthermore, he is by himself with Matsuri, and if she suspects anything, he will not have anyone to back him up.
Boruto Could Save the Day but at a Huge Cost
A small detail might have been missed by fans that could end up becoming much more important later. Mitsuki managed to find a metallic object that Boruto used to teleport. This could be how Boruto intervenes and backs them up in case something goes wrong or if he can’t stay there and just observe. While this does increase the survival rate of Team 7,it also means that Jura will come outas Kashin Koji said, and this would lower their chances of leaving alive even more. This is a very lose-lose situation for Boruto, and his solution will be interesting.
Kashin Koji is the person who orchestrated the mission to the Land of Wind led by Team 7, using hisShinjutsu ability that lets him see the future, Prescience. This means that only he knows what is going to happen, and while he does use this information to train Boruto and help save him, ultimately, only he knows what will happen and can reveal as much or as little as he wants. While Kashin Koji does have the interest of the world at heart, he won’t hesitate to sacrifice anyone and anything to preserve peace, which includes Boruto’s friends.

This new arc ofBoruto: Two Blue Vortexhas taken a big turn and this new development could lead to some of the best action in the entire series. Furthermore, how the main cast handles this precarious and fragile situation will be interesting, to say the least, and the fallout of this mission could always be another plot line that will be explored.
