The 2010’s cult classic comedy seriesBlue Mountain Statelooks set to return for a fourth season soon, and there are already a ton of exciting details. Originally developed for the small screen by Eric Falconer and Chris Romano, the show concerns the students and football team of the fictitious titular college, and the sex, drugs, and debauchery of the exaggerated collegiate experience. Echoing the classic sex comedies of the ’80s and ’90s,Blue Mountain Statewas hardly high art, but its devious sense of humor helped to make it a popular hidden gem.
Running for only three short seasons (between 2010 and 2012),Blue Mountain Statewas unceremoniously canceled by its network, the now defunct Spike TV. Though a crowdfunded film would arrive in 2016, entitledBlue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland, it failed to move the needle or reignite interest in the canceled series. However, the advent of streaming helped turn the 2010’s time capsule into a minor hit once again, and hopes for another outing rose. Withstar Alan Ritchsonnow a hot commodity thanks toReacher, plans are in place to bring back the raunchy comedy for another season.

You know, that is probably the most fun I’ve ever had. It was kind of my college experience. You know, I didn’t really go to… I was a college dropout. I wanted to, sort of, live my own experience in that way and so… for a lot of people, I’ve heard that is a lot like, you know, many people’s college experience. So I had a good time with that show. We’re actually setting it up with Amazon, you know. We’re gonna make a fourth season happen. Trying to work it into my schedule. But, you know, honestly, again, I’m like, I want to tell you the truth. I think it’s going to be the best season of BMS we’ve ever had. It is so damn funny, and it’s the perfect, you know, the way that we resurrect the characters and then sort of bring them into the way that things are now.
I mean, everything’s changed. I mean, you know, you can get paid to play now. You know, I mean, there’s the portal. There’s so many things that we can play with now that will surprise a character like Thad. I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun. Reacher’s fun in its own right, but Reacher is hard. I mean, you know, there are people, there are grown men who cried, have cried on our set. Like, ‘I can’t do this. Man, I don’t know how you do this. Get yourself together dude, we got to finish this fight’. You know, it’s hard, so it’s not like fun in the same way, but it’s rewarding, you know. So very, very different experiences.

So Much Has Changed After All These Years
Instead of shying away from the original series' somewhat non-PC reputation, the fourth season could explore how Thad and the other formerly rowdy college students have adjusted to the modern world.
Plot details concerningBlue Mountain Stateseason 4 are still quite scant, but comments from Alan Ritchson do suggest a direction for the forthcoming episodes. As Ritchson teased, the new season could catch up with the characters all these years later, and examine their reactions to the rapidly-changing world.Instead of shying away from the original series' somewhat non-PC reputation, the fourth season could explore how Thad and the other formerly rowdy college students have adjusted to the modern world.

The season could also discuss how much the world of college football has evolved too. In the early 2010s, college football players couldn’t be paid, but things have since changed. If Thad and his former teammates are still involved in the world of football, they could struggle to adjust to how things work now. This could allowBlue Mountain Stateseason 4 to evolve naturally without having to totally abandon the college setting. Additionally, there’s a lot of humor to be mined from the aging millennials trying to keep up with the current generation’s partying and debauchery.
