Scratch and the Owlbear Cub aren’t the only NPC pets and minions players can add to their party inBaldur’s Gate 3. To access most Familiars inBG3, players must have a Wizard, Beast Tamer Ranger, Eldritch Knight Fighter, Arcane Trickster Rogue, or Pact of the Chain Warlock and learn theFind Familiarspell. However, there are few unique, hidden familiars players can call upon to help in battle regardless of their chosen class or subclass.
These minions can either be used as cannon fodder in difficult fights against many enemies or as powerful allies able to turn the tide of challenging combat encounters. Some minions can even scout or revive fallen party members. While some hidden minions are single-use or relegated to a specific Act or location, many others can be found early and counted upon throughoutBaldur’s Gate 3’smain story. Here’s how to find and summon all of them.

How To Get Every Secret Minion In BG3
Us, the Intellect Devourer
Us is the Intellect Devourer pleading for help at the beginning ofAct 1 ofBaldur’s Gate 3while trying to navigate through and escape the Nautiloid. They canbecome a Familiar in Act 2 ifthey don’t die ahead of the Nautiloid crash. To get them as a minion, four conditions must be met during this first meeting in Act 1:
Us will always disappear after the Nautiloid crashes. However, if all four conditions were met, they will appear again in Act 2.

10 Coolest Pets in Baldur’s Gate 3
Players can summon or recruit several different types of pets and familiars in Baldur’s Gate 3. Here are some of the best ones in the game.
Toget Us as a summonable minion inBaldur’s Gate 3, seek out and find them again in the Morgue of the Mind Flayer Colony. They will be caged and labeled “aberrant.” You must convince the Hobgoblin Chop to let Us go or fight him for the key. Once freed here, Us becomes a full companion and, like Scratch, can be summoned once per Short Rest to aid in combat via the Summon Us inventory item.

If Us is summoned in a city or town around others, they will transform into a cat to avoid detection.
Crag Spiders
It is possible to summon a swarm of four or five spiders to follow the party around for a while during Act 1 ofBaldur’s Gate 3. To do so, you must find the Spider Egg Outside the Grove, climb the cliffs to a small, abandoned campsite, and interact with the Rocky Crevice to the right, covered in little spiders and spider webs. This grants a Pouch. Open the Pouch to reveal a Spider Egg Sac that can be set on the ground and attacked to hatch. The resulting Crag Spiders will follow the party and fight alongside them in combat. Each one has six Hit Points. The Crag Spiders canonly be summoned and used onceduring the game.
Frank, Chock, and Lump (Ogres)
In one of the ruined buildings in the Blighted Village during Act 1, the party can come upon three Ogres: Frank, Chock, and Lump. Upon approaching them and speaking to them, it is possible to convince them that you are a friend and not food but also to work for the party rather than the goblins. Either offer to pay them or pass a fairly difficult Persuasion check, and Lump, the most eloquent of the three, will give the partyLump’s War Horn. This item can be sounded in combat to cause the three ogres to appear and fight for the party.
Lump and his group can only fight in three battles before no longer responding to the call of the War Horn. Additionally, the ogres' help must be used before reaching Act 2, or they will also no longer respond to the call of the War Horn due to distance.

Each time they are summoned, if they do not fall in combat,Lump will try to collect paymentafter the battle, complain that the effort was not worth what they were promised as a reward, and attempt to end the arrangement. Each of these times, you can pay, fight him, or try to convince him to continue working for the party, though the price will increase each time. If payment was offered but the ogres were never summoned using the horn, they would still appear at camp at some point to collect, at which time they could be paid, fought, or intimidated into leaving empty-handed.
Shovel, the Quasit
Also, in the Blighted Village during Act 1 ofBaldur’s Gate 3, in the cellar of the Alchemist’s shop past the hidden door, it is possible to find aScroll of Summon Quasit. The item is one-time use and introduces Shovel, a cheeky Quasit who tends to give poor advice. In combat, Shovel can turn Invisible and can Frighten enemies.
Shovel can be made a full Familiar either by learning the spell as a Wizard (or having Gale do so) or by speaking to her after using the scroll. If a Warlock, Wizard, or Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer speaks to Shovel and chooses the correct dialogue options, they will learn the spellFind Familiar: Cheeky Quasit. They can then ritual cast the spell to summon Shovel without using a spell slot.

Shovel fears Storm Sorcerers and will not teach them theFind Familiar: Cheeky Quasitspell. The way around this is to useDisguise Selfbefore speaking with her.
Danse Macabre
The Danse Macabre is a Level 5 Necromancy spell obtained by completing theNecromancy of Thayside questthat begins in Act 1 and extends all the way to Act 3 ofBaldur’s Gate 3. It allows you tosummon four Ghouls, the Gnawing Horde, to fight alongside you in battle. To learn the spell and be able to summon the Ghouls, you will need to do the following:
Each Ghoul has a Bite attack with a chance to Paralyze enemies if they fail a DC 5 Constitution Save.

Connor Vinderblad is the late husband of Mayrina, found in the Sunlit Wetlands in Act 1. Afterdefeating Auntie Ethel, find and take her wand, Bitter Divorce, and use it to reanimate Connor’s corpse behind the teahouse.
If you choose to keep the wand rather than giving it to Mayrina, you’re able to use it to summon Connor at will as an action. He will stay and fight for ten turns before needing to be resummoned. Note that this only works ifMayrina is not surrendered to Auntie Ethel; she survives the encounter, and the party goes through dialogue with her before using the wand. Failure to meet any of these conditions results in Connor reappearing as a hostile enemy and once killed by the party; he will not be able to be resurrected again, as the wand will disappear from the party’s inventory.

The wand’s name will change from Bitter Divorce to Second Marriage if the party chooses to keep it.
Spore Servants
Several creatures and monsters from Acts 1 and 2 ofBaldur’s Gate 3can become Spore Servants. To get a Spore Servant, you must use Sovereign Glut’sAnimating Sporesfeature on the corpse of any creature and keep it as a minion foras long as the party and Sovereign Glut are in the Underdark. To gain this ability, you must do the following:
It is also possible to bring the corpse of a creature from the overworld to the Underdark in Acts 1 and 2 and have Sovereign Glut use Animating Spores on that creature. They will remain your Spore Servant until you leave the Underdark.

Multiple Monstrosities can be turned into Spore Servants using this method. They include the following:
Bosses inBaldur’s Gate 3from Acts 1 and 2, like Dror Ragzlin, True Soul Gut, and even Kar’niss, can be brought down to the Underdark and turned into Spore Servants this way.

Should You Side With Glut Or Spaw In Baldur’s Gate 3?
Sovereign Glut and Sovereign Spaw are both compelling Myconid characters in Baldur’s Gate 3, and choosing which to support can be difficult.
It is not possible to use Animating Spores on constructs, plants, or aberrations, and you cannot use them on any creatures from the Grymforge, as Sovereign Glut will refuse to cross the lake to reach it.

Kar’niss, the Drider
It is possible toget Kar’niss the Drider as an undead familiar for all of Act 2inBaldur’s Gate 3, though the process is somewhat convoluted. It requires using theControl Undeadspell, which is only available toOathbreaker Paladins. To get Kar’niss as a minion this way, complete the following:
Note that Kar’niss can be used as a friendly summon for the entirety of Act 2, but he will become hostile again after every Long Rest. You will need touse Control Undead again to “summon” him back to the party. Additionally, the only healing spell that will work on Kar’niss isAid, so you will want to have it available in your party at all times if you want to keep Kar’niss alive.
Shadow Lantern Wraith

The lantern, when equipped, grants the spellConjure Shadow Lantern Wraith, a Level 6 Necromancy Spell that can be used to create a Shadow familiar to fight alongside the party once per long rest. This spell is only available if you pick up the Raven Gloves from the far eastern point of the Shadow Cursed Lands in Act 2 byhelping He Who Waswith his side quest, calledPunish The Wicked.
Every Cat In Baldur’s Gate 3, Ranked By Personality
Baldur’s Gate 3 has plenty of interesting and adorable cats for the party to track down, each with their own unique personalities and quirks.
To get the Raven Gloves, you must find the Ledger in The Waning Moon tavern and return it to him. Then, when the option is presented, either tell Madeline to stab herself only once or call her a coward. Having Madeline stab herself more than once will cause He Who Was to become angry and attack, and looting his body afterward will not yield the Raven Gloves.
Quothe the Raven can fly, making them a good familiar for scouting ahead in dangerous areas. They can also attack an enemy’s eyes, leaving them Blinded for two turns.
Cambion
Using thePlanar Ally: Cambionspell from the Infernal Rapier gifted to Wyll by Mizora, you may have apermanent Cambion ally once per Long Rest. To get the Infernal Rapier and the Cambion ally that comes with it, you mustfree Zariel’s Asset from the Mindflayer Colonyafter defeating Ketheric Thorm in Act 2. However, when doing this, Wyll must be in the active party, and you must choose the Persuasion dialogue option and pass the DC 14 Persuasion check to demand a reward from Mizora.
Because it is not possible to fast travel to and from camp between defeating Ketheric and entering the Mindflayer Colony, and while inside the Mindflayer Colony, Wyll must come along to the fight with Ketheric Thorm if you want to obtain the Cambion minion.
Flesh, Balthazar’s Brother
Inside the Gauntlet of Shar, Balthazar has employed the help of a Flesh Golem servant made partially out of the pieces of his unborn twin brother. When talking to Balthazar, if you ask about Flesh and then ask for supplies, and succeed a DC 14 Persuasion check, you will receive theSummon Golem Bell. This allows you to summon Flesh as a minion to fight alongside the party throughout the Gauntlet of Shar. While limited in availability, this hidden minion can be incredibly powerful forcompleting the Gauntlet of Sharand confronting Yurgir inBaldur’s Gate 3.
Deva
You can get a permanent Deva companion usingSights of the Seelie: Summon Deva, a spell unlocked from a book in the Vault of Sorcerous Sundries in Baldur’s Gate. To access this powerful minion with the ability to Revivify, you will need to break into the Sorcerous Vault beneath Sorcerous Sundries by snagging the key from Tolna Tome-Monger’s room andsolving the Vault puzzle. You must walk north through the illusory wall west of the Portal inside the Vault to access a hidden room containing Diaries, Letters, and, on the bookshelf, a mysteriously glowing green book calledCaution Before the Seelie.
Reading the book adds aScroll of Bestial Communionto your inventory. It is the only one to exist inBaldur’s Gate 3. While it can be used once to castSights of the Seelie: Summon Deva, you must have Gale or another Wizard character scribe the spell to get the Deva as a permanent companion for the remainder of the game. You may then cast the spell once per Short Rest using a Level 6 spell slot.
