12Weightless Gold Should Be One Of The First Mods You Download

Manage Inventory Weight

One of the first mods I personally downloaded was the Weightless Gold mod created bycuriousgeorge26. The fact that each gold piece has weight was irksome to me when I played the vanilla game, astoo much gold could dampen inventory spacefor carrying other, more important items. The trick in the vanilla game was to spread out gold among your party members, but it could get tiresome, constantly splitting and sending gold back and forth between character inventories.

As a result, this mod was created to lighten players' loads.Goldbeing weightless means that players can afford to carry around more gear, scrolls, and elixirs without fear of becoming over-encumbered. This mod is a wonderful quality-of-life change that I recommend for every player.

11Wings Unlocked Lets You Equip Wings On Every Character

For Fashion And Function

The Wings Unlocked mod created byChulocoallows players to equip wings onto any character. This allows any character to have the ability to fly as a passive, which can help players move around the arena with more flexibility. It also allows players to make it across many different gaps that would otherwise be inaccessible without the use of spells such as Enhance Leap.

This mod adds additional customization to many different races, most notably for Tieflings and Dragonborn. The Cambion Wings will change color and texture to reflect the rest of the body for Tieflings and Dragonborn. However, wings tend to be buggy when using them with races like the Halfing or Gnome, so proceed with caution.

One of the more interesting character customization mods out on console,Hair Unlocked, gives players new options for customizing their Tav’s appearance. This mod gives you over 30+ new hair choices, including many of the styles used by companions. Once you download the mod, made by userShaneH147, you’ll be able to wear the looks seen by Shadowheart, Karlach, and other characters for any playable race.

Thismod focus a lot on giving you options to adopt the visual styles of many NPC charactersinBaldur’s Gate 3’s story. For example, one hairstyle mimics the look that the captured goblin Sazza has from the Druid Grove in Act 1. With different models available for all races, you have more freedom than ever to customize your character for another playthrough.

9FaerunColors Gives Players More Customization Options

More Dyes!

The FaerunColors mod, created bytechroot, adds a plethora of new dyes toBaldur’s Gate 3that work exceptionally well with both vanilla game items and modded items. The vanilla game has a fairly limited amount of dyes, so this modexpands character customization options. Many of these dyes are custom-tailored to fit certaingods and deitiesin the world ofBaldur’s Gate 3, which grants the player more freedom to roleplay.

Get creative and experiment! Not every character needs to use the same dye for every piece of armour they wear.

This mod also takes commissions, meaning players can contact the creator to ask for certain color palettes to be added in the future. Not all mods interact so intimately with the community like this, so this is a treat to see. The mod already comes with a full chest of commissioned dyes, many of which utilize the colors of deities from other mythologies.

8Get More Feats Than The Base Game For Tasha

More Feats From 5E

The Tasha’s Feats mod, created bythelucidfrog and Tdakh, adds 10 feats from Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything that is not a part of the base game. This gives players more freedom tochoose feats inBG3that align more with the class and background of their characters. Many players were disappointed that feats such asMetamagic Adept and Fey Touchedwere not in the base game, but this is rectified with the Tasha’s Feats mod.

10 D&D Spell Mods Players Need To Add To Baldur’s Gate 3 ASAP

With Baldur’s Gate 3 mod support now available on console, players have more freedom to experiment with additional spell content than ever before.

There are no feats in the base game that increase Wisdomoutside the classic Ability Score Increase, so feats such as Fey Touched, Telekinetic, and Telepathic are much-needed additions. Many players felt pushed into choosing feats that they might otherwise not have taken if there were more applicable options. For example, some players might have preferred to take the Crusher feat as it is more in line with their character’s background, as not every Strength-based character might be considered a veteran ‘Tavern Brawler.’

7Expand Your Arsenal Of Spells

Expand Spell Lists From 5E

The Mystra’s Spells mod, created byrandomkilla, adds 130+ new spellstoBaldur’s Gate 3. This drastically increases the spell list for all spellcasters and gives the player more freedom to choose. In a game all about making your choices and actions count, having more spells to choose from adds further depth to developing characters.

Mystra’s Spells are still currently being developed, and we will be adding Level 7-9 spells in the future.

Mystra’s Spells are unique regarding spell mods, as this mod implements these new spells to fit more in line with howBaldur’s Gate 3has imagined 5E spells. This means that many of these spells have adjusted their ranges, durations, and other aspects to fit more accurately within a video game. A lot of spell mods can break the vanilla game, butMystra’s Spells seem more thoroughly balanced than most.

6Add Greater Challenges With Extra Encounters And Minibosses

Create More Content Through New Enemies

AlthoughBaldur’s Gate 3already has three Acts of expansive adventure, theExtra Encounters and Minibossesmod fromRella_modadds new foes your party can face for additional challenges. Mutliple powerful antagonists come with this mod, appearing in every Act through new encounters you can find. Some include:

These bosses and encounters are scaled to balance around the level scaling of an Act, giving you a good idea of how strong you need to be to fight certain enemies. This modalso gives existing enemies new properties, such as new Legendary Actions or skills. With new battles to take on, you have more opportunities to gain XP and claim unique loot, while challenging yourself to overcome new enemies whose tactics vary from what you’ve seen before.

5More Party Members, More Fun

Journey With More Companions

The Adjustable Party Limit mod, created byPixellBytes, adds spells that allow the player toset the maximum number of party members to any value between 1-16. This mod also fully works in multiplayer, allowing players to enjoy the game with friends while bringing NPC companions. The companions are a huge part of what makesBaldur’s Gate 3so good, so it was unfortunate that players who only play with friends could never experience their character development.

This mod is more useful in good than evil playthroughs, considering the difference in the number of companions traveling with the player.

The ability to expand the party also works flawlessly in solo playthroughs and can lead tomore frequent companion interactions that would otherwise be missed. It doesn’t make sense why companions have to spend the whole adventure sitting in camp while the rest of the gang gets all the glory, especially given the context ofBaldur’s Gate 3. However, be aware that in order toLong Rest inBG3without any bugs, players will need to dismiss extra members until there are 4 or fewer in the party.

4Level Up Twice As Fast When You Need It

Level Up More Consistently

The Double XP mod, created byReshiArdus, helps players level up at double the speed. This mod is necessary for players who use the UnlockLevel Curve mod, as it will be quite difficult to reach level 20 without utilizing bonus XP gains. The base game’s XP progression is balanced around level 12 being the maximum, so players should use this mod if they want to break past level 12 before Act 3.

How BG3’s New Toolkit Works & Everything Else You Need To Know About Mod Updates

The new Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit opens up a whole new world of possibilities, but the future of Baldur’s Gate 3 modding still has some limits.

There are other mods similar to this one, such as the XP x 0.5 mod, which will halve the XP requirements needed to level up. However, I prefer to utilize the Double XP mod simply because it feels more satisfying to see large XP numbers after most combat encounters.I would also recommend not using the 10x XP mod, which makes level progression a little too fast.

3Spawn Every Item In The Game

Get Items You Missed

The Cheaters Spell Scroll mod, formerly known as the Cheaters Ring, was created byXelphosand is a great quality-of-life item for all players. Perhaps you missed an item and can no longer backtrack to obtain it?This mod allows players to spawn in chests that contain every item in the game, so say goodbye to potentially losing out on core items.

This mod is also wonderful for players who want to start the game with some gear for role-playing purposes, as many players have detailed stories and backgrounds for their characters. Starting an adventure with nothing but common items can dampen the role-playing experience, which is the most important aspect ofBaldur’s Gate 3. The Cheaters Spell Scroll alsoallows players to spawn in the Tutorial Chest from the Nautiloid, which is often used in other equipment mods.
