Summary
A concept trailer has imagined theAvengerscoming together back in the 2000s, years before the iconic superhero team formed in theMCU. Marvel Studios first brought a live-action Avengers team together in 2012’s eponymousThe Avengers, working under the watchful eye of SHIELD and Nick Fury to stop Loki’s invasion of New York City. Since then, theAvengers team has become a staple of the MCU, and has been through many different line-ups, set to once again be reinvented ahead of the MCU’s Phase 6.
Chris Evans
Captain America: The First Avenger(2011)
While Marvel Studios first brought together the Avengers in 2012, rounding off the MCU’s Phase 1, a concept trailer shared byDr Flashpointback in 2020 imagines what the Avengers team could look like comprising heroes fromMarvel’s pre-MCU projects. This trailer replacesThe Avengers’Loki with versions of MODOK and AIM.This 2000s-inspired Avengers team consists of heroes including Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Ben Affleck’s Daredevil and Eric Bana’s Hulk, some of whom could reprise their roles in several upcoming MCU movies.
How Avengers 5 & 6 Could Bring Back Older Marvel Heroes
Ever since Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige announced the development of twoAvengersmovies for Phase 6, since titledDoomsdayandSecret Wars, there has been speculation about many classic Marvel actors returning to their old roles. Marvel Comics’Secret Warsevent brought together many variants from across the multiverse, so it’s likely2027’sAvengers: Secret Warswill do the same. This means past MCU characters and heroes from other Marvel franchises and classic projects can be featured.
This creates the perfect opportunity for some beloved actors to reprise their roles one last time. The possible impact of this was demonstrated inMarvel Studios' recentDeadpool & Wolverine, which marked the returns of Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, Chris Evans' Human Torch, Wesley Snipes' Blade and Dafne Keen’s X-23.Dr Flashpoint’s concept trailer suggests even more heroes could be brought back forAvengers: DoomsdayandSecret Wars, including those from 2003’sHulk, 2007’sGhost Riderand 2002’sSpider-Manfranchise, among others.
Samuel L. Jackson
Iron Man(2008)
All these heroes could be revealed to be multiversal variants of the versions in the MCU, making it easy and likely for them to interact with each other and the characters of the MCU in Phase 6.Massive incursion events are expected to destroy the multiverse inAvengers: DoomsdayandSecret Wars, with survivors perhaps being brought to BattleworldbyRobert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. If this happens, these heroes could form a 2000s-inspiredAvengersteam, helping the MCU’s Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to save the day.
