The trailer kicks off by introducing Julia Garner’s character Terry Gionoffrio and her dream of becoming a dancer before immediately crushing that dream by showing a harrowing injury. Will Apartment 7A Be Another Unlikely 2024 Horror Prequel Success?

The First OmenWas Well Received Earlier In The Year.

Now that theApartment 7Atrailer has offered a closer glimpse at thehorror movie prequel, it seems possible that the movie could be the second unlikely prequel to a classic to become a critical success in 2024. The previous title wasThe First Omen, which premiered in April and earned a Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 81% in addition to an audience score of 70%. TheRosemary’s Babyprequelseems to be adopting a similar tone toThe First Omen, which could allow it to connect with both critics and audiences in a similar way.

The First Omenwas a prequel to the Oscar-winning 1976 horror classicThe Omen, which was also about the Antichrist.

The similarities in approach include utilizing themes and elements from the original movie while amplifying the body horror surrounding maternity using modern special effects. These elements include the design of the apartment building The Bram, the hallucinatory look of any interactions with the supernatural, a short-haired protagonist, the performance bringing Minnie to life, and will likely also include other subtle nods to the original movie including anagrams and the use of tannis root. However, just likeThe First Omen, there are also significant differences that could help the movie feel freshand more original than may otherwise have been expected.

What Is Tannis Root? Rosemary’s Baby’s Ominous Ingredient Explained

Tannis Root is used against Rosemary in the disturbing horror movie Rosemary’s Baby, but is the substance real and how does it work on the heroine?

One of the most important new wrinkles inApartment 7Ais that, while Terry is meant to closely resemble Rosemary, she also has many traits of Rosemary’s husband, Guy, who offers her up as the mother of the Antichrist in exchange for furthering his career as an actor. In the new movie, the terrifying motherhood and the career ambitions both belong to Terry, as she is tempted by the Castevets' offer to further her dance career, something that metaphorically comes to the fore with her hallucinations seeming to come in the form of dance sequences.
