The best place to start with this quest is to seek out the cartographer inSanza’s “Mapping the Living Lands” Quest. This will lead you to an area near Usher’s Hand where the cartographer’s body can be found and an initial piece of the totem itself (if you explore the area a bit). First, take out the enemies in the area and track down the cartographer’s body, picking up the map Sanza requested. A grate nearby can be frozen and broken open, where you may drop down to find theGolden Plaque of Oaths.
You don’t technicallyneedthe list from Sanza to find each totem piece, but the clues are useful for narrowing down their locations.
Afterward, travel to Sanza’s shop in Northern Paradis, east of the entrance, where you’re able to turn in the quest for a reward and purchase items from Sanza’s shop. A ladder inside the room behind it drops down to a cellar full of phantoms. Take these out and grab the totem on the floor.
Depending on your level and abilities, the remaining totem pieces might involve some difficult enemies, though there are ways to sneak around and grab these totem pieces without combat. TheGolden Plaque of Promisesclue points you toward"an amethyst light on high,“referring to the Lighthouse on the western coast near Dehengen’s Cottage. The area is infested with xaurips, and the associated quest, Cabin Fever, requires taking these enemies out. The totem piece is at the top of the lighthouse.

This area is thick with traps and skeletons, but they are relatively low-level. The totem piece is located at the very top of the stronghold and took me some parkour skills to reach. It’s found in a bird’s nest there at the top. Once all the pieces of the totem are collected, return to camp and place the final piece to complete the quest and listen in on an ancient memory.
