Despite Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren being stranded in anotherStar Warsgalaxy, Ezra Bridger may have a major role to play inAhsokaseason 2.Ahsokaseason 1 essentially functioned as a sequel toStar Wars Rebels, with Ahsoka and Sabine embarking on a quest to find Ezra together. Of course, we discovered more happened between the two shows, like Sabine training with Ahsoka as a Jedi.Ahsoka’s story was a direct continuation of theRebelsepilogue, with the result being bothEzra Bridgerand, sadly, Grand Admiral Thrawn, finally making their way“home.”
Tragically,Ahsoka and Sabine were left stranded on Peridea, with no obvious way to return toStar Wars’ primary galaxy. Given the worldbuilding implications of Peridea’s existence and the many questionsStar Warsstill needs to answer about the Force and its presence there, it would be easy forAhsokaseason 2to focus wholly on Peridea. After all, the show is calledAhsoka, and depending on how long they’re stuck, she won’t be able to influence Thrawn’s Imperial story.Eman Esfandi’s potential return as Ezra Bridger inAhsokaseason 2 forces the story in a different direction, however.

If Eman Esfandi Is In Ahsoka Season 2, Then The Story Isn’t Entirely On Peridea
In a recent Instagram Stories post,Eman Esfandi hinted that Ahsoka season 2 had begun filming– a surprising development, since it was widely believed the show wouldn’t commence production until later in April or even the summer. If this is true (Disney has yet to confirm),Ahsokaseason 2’s story isn’t set entirely on Peridea, even though it easily could have been. Ezra Bridger,Star Wars Rebels’ Ghost Crew, and presumably, Thrawn and the Imperial Remnant, will likely have major roles inAhsoka’s sophomore season.
Much like season 1,Ahsokaseason 2 will be split between two locales. There will be a major difference, however. Peridea didn’t come into play until the last few episodes of season 1, as Ahsoka (and Sabine) were the main focus, and they needed to find a way to get there. If Ezra is prominently involved in season 2, each episode will more obviously be split between the two galaxies. The writers must be careful, as this could affect the narrative’s pacing, our understanding of Peridea, and the building threat inStar Wars’ primary galaxy.

Ahsoka Season 2 Likely Continues A Thrawn Plot From The Mandalorian And Grogu
Ahsoka season 2 being spread across two galaxies could have wider implications for the so-called “Mandoverse.”Ahsokaseason 2 is slated to be released afterThe Mandalorian and Grogu, which means that, despite Din Djarin and Grogu’s continued story taking place on the big screen, it likely won’t feature the final defeat of Grand Admiral Thrawn or the dissolution of the Imperial Remnant, even thoughThe Mandalorian and Groguconcept artdepicts Din taking on the Empire.
10 Things I’m Desperate To See In Ahsoka Season 2
There are plenty of rumors and theories about what Ahsoka season 2 could include, but I’m just hoping Star Wars gives us these 10 things.
Presumably, there’s a narrative throughline betweenThe Mandalorian and GroguandAhsokaseason 2. Din, Grogu, and Ahsoka have met before, and several characters, including Captain Carson Teva and Garazeb Orrelios, can easily cross over between the two sub-franchises, so believability isn’t an issue. It remains to be seen how stretching the Thrawn plot across Disney+ shows and a theatrical movie will affect the movie’s reception and the Mandoverse’s overarching story. Will everyone who goes to seeThe Mandalorian and Groguhave seenAhsoka? And will everyone who watchesAhsokabuy a ticket forThe Mandalorian and Grogu?
It’s Likely Ahsoka Will Eventually Get Back To The Main Galaxy
Currently,Star Wars’upcomingMandalorian-related slate includesThe Mandalorian and Grogu,Ahsokaseason 2, and Dave Filoni’s mysterious Mandoverse movie project. The end of the war against Thrawn will likely happen in Filoni’s final movie, but that meansAhsokaseason 2 will potentially play a major part in setting up the Imperial showdown. It will have to function as a turning point in the war, leading to Thrawn’s destruction and the creation of the First Order.
This means that Ahsoka and Sabine will have to come home inAhsokaseason 2 – it’s the only way this will structurally make sense. WhatStar Warsneeds to be mindful of is not repeatingAhsokaseason 1’s narrative. Ezra’s story inAhsokaseason 2 can’t just be about finding a way to bring Ahsoka and Sabine home. He is Thrawn’s greatest adversary – his narrative will need to focus on that (and possibly training Jacen Syndulla, his late master’s son).

ForAhsokaseason 2’s potential split storyline to be satisfying enough and fit in with the wider Mandoverse, Ahsoka and Sabine will need to find their own way home, and they’ll need to do it before the end ofAhsokaseason 2. That way, they’ll be set up for a role in Dave Filoni’s possibly finalMandalorianmovie, even ifThe Mandalorianseason 4 is greenlit at some point in the future. From here on out, the Mandoverse is a tough balancing act, andAhsokaseason 2 will have an important part to play.
