How Wonder Woman and Her Allies Were Made Powerless
In the wake ofDark Crisis on Infinite Earths, Amanda Waller returned to the Prime Earth after a trip from Earth-3. Disturbed at the notion of metahumans turning against humanity, Waller began formulating a plan to eliminate metahumans permanently. She began working in the shadows, observing teams such as the Titans and the Doom Patrol while making plans to attain more power than ever. Waller finally got the political power she needed when she became the head of the new government organization, the Bureau of Sovereignty.
In addition to political power, Waller needed firepower to help her bring down the metahumans. Thankfully, she was able to seize Failsafe after it had been defeated by Batman and his allies. She also took possession of the six Amazos Failsafe had acquired when it was possessed by Batman’s alternate persona, Zur-En-Arrh. Waller got additional power in the form of the Brainiac Queen, who fell to Earth with completely blank hard drives. Waller used a combination of Failsafe’s programming and the Sanctuary files tobrainwash the Queen and have her serve as Waller’s loyal agent.

See how Amanda Waller got the final assets she needed inAbsolute Power: Ground Zero #1 (2024)!
With all the assets she needed, Waller used the Brainiac Queen to generate manipulated videos that showed heroes attacking the public. The heroes took the bait and hit the streets to counter the narrative and Waller sent out Task Force VII in response. The Amazos made quick work andde-powered hundreds of heroes, including ones as powerful as Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Spectre. The situation became frighteningly clear when Green Arrow interrupted the heroes' private frequency and revealed Waller had cut off every potential avenue of escape.

Wonder Woman’s Closest Ally is Discovering Vital Information for DC’s Heroes
Steve isn’t a hero in the conventional sense, but unlike Wonder Woman and her comrades, Trevor is at least used to being powerless. There’s no sugar-coating it. Things are dire in the DC Universe right now. Heroes are on the run, in prison, or in the case of Superman Jon Kent, being experimented on. While Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman want nothing more than to get to Gamorra, the heart of Waller’s operation, they’re not exactly in a position to do so without their abilities. ButWonder Woman’s companion is in a key position to save her and her friends.
The man is a great soldier and has experience in espionage and combat.
Right now, the heroes are too concerned with fighting Waller’s Task Force VII agents to even think about what’s happening in Waller’s prison. And while there are plans to bust their allies out, Steve is already acting as the heroes' ‘boots on the ground’ presence. He’s found key places in the prison such as where the heroes are being detained and the area where the villains are constructing some unknown, but certainly disastrous device. If the heroesdomake it to Gamorra,Steve Trevor should have everything they need to know in order to turn things around.
There are very few options for the powerless heroes right now. But having Steve Trevor on Gamorra could end up being a godsend. The man is a great soldier and has experience in espionage and combat. He’s not Superman by any means, but he’s exactly the type of person who can find whatever secrets Amanda Waller is hiding on Gamorra and get them to the heroes. It’s a long shot, but Trevor’s work in Gamorra could bewhat ultimately helps the DC heroes get their powers back.
Steve Trevor is the Underdog Hero ofAbsolute Power
It’s not yet known how the heroes are going to get their powers back. But if anyone stands a shot at discovering how, it’s Steve. His investigation in Gamorra could lead him to discover a way to get Task Force VII to return every hero’s power back to them. It’s dangerous, sure, but being in Diana’s social circle has prepared Trevor for a mission like this. If all goes well,Wonder Womanand the rest of DC’s heroes will soon be empowered thanks to Steve Trevor.
Absolute Power: Task Force VII #1-4are available now from DC Comics.
