Most interpretations have him falling into the cave while exploring the grounds around Wayne Manor, also inspiring his surprising fear of bats, as he was quickly swarmed by them. Decades later, when Bruce was deciding to wage his war on crime, he returned to the cave and built it into the Batcave, one of the greatest superhero bases in comic books. It wasn’t really a question worth asking, but DC still went through the trouble of giving it an explanation. Gotham City is a big city; having access to random buildings around town is a fantastic way to appear without being seen. As Batman himself states, the Batmobile has a habit of announcing itself. While most fans never gave much thought to howBatmanappears around town, DC still managed to give a pretty satisfying answer.
