A Different Worldis finally getting a sequel series after legal issues delayed development. A spin-off ofThe Cosby Show, the series aired for six seasons on NBC from 1987 to 1993, originally followingDenise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet)at Hillman College, a fictional historically black college in Virginia. Bonet left the show after the first season, so the focus shifted to Southern belle Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy) and math genius Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison), who both appeared in all 144 episodes of the series.
Now, three decades after going off the air, the sitcom is finally receiving a sequel series. According toTVLine,a follow-up toA Different Worldis reportedly in the works at Netflix.
