Chidi revealed that he wasn’t born blind. It happened when he was 17 years old and had an accident. Chidi was standing under a tree while his friend climbed it.An apple fell on Chidi, and it hit him in the right eye. The pain was so excruciating that when Chidi went to school, he couldn’t see what was written on the blackboard. Chidi’s eyesight in his right eye kept deteriorating. However, Chidi could still see from his left eye at the time. The pain in the right eye is what eventually led to Chidi losing eyesight in both eyes.

Chidi happened to fall down one evening. He was in great pain still from the accident, and it might have led to him being disoriented, leading to his fall. Unfortunately, the fall did permanent damage to Chidi’s vision. He hit hisleft eye on a wooden desk.He started bleeding profusely. Chidi could feel the blood rushing out. He was taken to the hospital, but there was nothing that could be done. Chidi became blind in both eyes. “I was so devastated,” he added. Chidi felt as if his whole life had come to an end. He also described what he can see now.
Chidi explained how he could only see just a “thick cloud” before his face.
However, sometimes,Chidi can experience some sparks of different colorsof light. Having known what colors are and what the world used to look like before he lost his eyesight, Chidi can visualize his environment. He also gets a little bit of help from the“symphony of sounds” around him. Unfortunately for Chidi, living as a visually impaired person in Nigeria is not a very easy experience. Lagos is the biggest city in Africa and everywhere is congested. The roads aren’t built well.
“There are no ramps,” Chidi added.
Chidi noted that most of the houses and public places have steps and no ramps. Chidi usually uses a cane when he goes out. However, he still needs assistance.

90DF’s Chidi is Christian by faith. He believes that God has helped him cope with his disability. He prays a lot during the day and at night. He believes God blessed him when he sent Rayne to him.Chidi was afraid to tell Rayne that he was blindwhen they first met because he thought that would have scared her away. Chidi himself didn’t know he was talking to a white lady. Rayne had sent some regular pictures of herself to Chidi and he didn’t compliment her. Rayne thought Chidi would say she was pretty, but he continued chatting with her sweetly.
“So after another month or so I sent a picture of my booty and I still didn’t get a response,” Rayne confessed.
Chidi said that Rayne had “lodged in a complaint” to himafter he didn’t react to her naughty photo.It was then that Chidi told Rayne that he was blind. Chidi wondered if Rayne would run away or reject him because she didn’t want her anymore. However, what happened was quite the opposite.
