Stardew Valleyis still capturing hearts, many years after it was released. Some fans have spent hours of their lives trying to accomplish rare milestones or design the most streamlined farm design. Butthe appeal of the farming sim is its inherent simplicity, which makes it easy to get involved as much or as little as players want. There’s no pressure to create something astounding or find that last achievement. One especially wholesome example of the game’s wide appeal has just surfaced online.
The image shared bydoorkeytvon Reddit might not look like a typical farm design. It has a few clusters of trees and a small plot of farmland, as well as a few rows ofPreserves Jars. That’s becausethe farm was created by the Redditor’s 76-year-old mom.

A lot of love went into the farm, as just the first year was spent painstakingly clearing it of debris. The screenshot was sent to doorkeytv with the wholesome comment:“This is the life I dreamed of when I was in college.”

Wholesome Stardew Valley Farm Shows A Different Way To Play The Game
ConcernedApe Would Likely Approve
The farm is in Year Five, but it doesn’t have the staples of the game that other players might have gone for. Instead of building the greenhouse or decorating, doorkeytv’s mom went for the things that bring her joy. In her case, this was jams: “She likes to experiment with jams and tells me what fruits make the best ones, and loves to gossip with me about the villagers,” wrote doorkeytv.
Similarly, doorkeytv’s mom hasn’t made much traditional progress inStardew Valley, having yet to reach even the 10th level of the mines, but she’s loving every moment of her experience with the game. She has just upgraded her house and “is excited to start cooking.”

In a comment on the post, Reddit userAmbitiousBrilliancepoints out that this is “the complete opposite of how so many of us play. 5 years and no green house, but her house is upgraded and she’s just… enjoying it. How sweet.” They also note that Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, the game’s developer, would love this. ConcernedApe developedStardew Valleyon his own, dedicating many hours of his life to the game. Even though the game is now a huge success, ConcernedApe is still working on bringing new content to its devoted community – so much so thatit’s keeping him from working on his new projectHaunted Chocolatier.
The wholesome story is a beautiful example of why so many players loveStardew Valleyand its community. The supportive environment draws fans of all ages and from all walks of life. Even now, years after its initial release, players are finding brand-new ways to interact withStardew Valleyevery day.
