Cobra Kaiseason 6, part 2’s final episode came with two big moments likely to resolve a character’s 40-year-old story. The tenth episode of this final season saw the Sekai Taikai break into complete chaos, as a massive brawl erupted and all rules were thrown out the window. Of course, theKarate Kidspinoff series is known for such moments, and this Sekai Taikai brawl served as an effective topper for the overarching story. However, the volume was turned up a notch inCobra Kaiseason 6, episode 10, with a handful of impactful moments setting up some hard-earned lessons.
Cobra Kaihas been all about villain redemptions, with Johnny Lawrence leading that pack as a bad-boy-gone-good. He has been joined by Chozen Toguchi, Mike Barnes, and a spattering of other characters. However, a few villains have still been up to no good asCobra Kaiapproaches its final episodes. Terry Silver may never earn redemption, given how definitively evil he has been from beginning to end. However, the jury is still out for John Kreese—the originalThe Karate Kidvillain.Cobra Kaiseason 6, episode 10 seems to have set up a path forward for this character.

Johnny Saving Kreese Allows Cobra Kai’s Final Episodes To Resolve Their 40-Year Feud
Johnny & Kreese Could Be On A Better Path
Johnny Lawrence and John Kreese have had an on-again-off-again father-son relationship for 40 years, beginning withThe Karate Kidin 1984. For the majority ofCobra Kai, Kreese was attempting to get Johnny on his side, hoping to run the titular dojo together. However, after escaping from prison and heading to South Korea, Kreese ignored any remaining affection for Johnny. He even set out on a spiritual journey to retrieve Master Kim’s Eunjangdo knife from a hidden cave, wherehe killed a hallucination of Johnny as a symbol of entirely moving on.
However,Johnny likely changed this inCobra Kaiwhen he saved his old sensei from Terry Silver. Kreese headed after his old war buddy with the intention of using his Eunjangdo, but he realized after confronting Silver that he no longer had the weapon in his belt. This meant the larger, more powerful man had the advantage, andit didn’t look good for Kreese until Johnny jumped in and kicked Silver out of the way. Kreese’s meaningful glance at Johnny inCobra Kaiseason 6, episode 10 was enough to indicate that this moment might have turned the tides between them.

After Kwon’s Death, Kreese May Finally Realize His Methods Are Wrong
Kreese Is Finally Facing The Consequences Of His Methods
Another far less positivemoment inCobra Kaiseason 6, episode 10may also have set up a big change for Kreese’s character. As previously mentioned, Kreese dropped his Eunjangdo before he reached Terry Silver during the Sekai Taikai brawl. Unfortunately, it was picked up by Kwon, one of Kreese’s more violent students. Kwon used the knife in his fight against Iron Dragon’s Axel, but ultimately fell upon himself. The boy’s blood-curdling scream put a quick end to Kreese, Johnny, and Silver’s fight, and the consequences inCobra Kaiseason 6, part 3, are sure to be even more extreme.
Cobra Kaiseason 6, part 3 releases on Netflix on Aug 04, 2025.

As was typical for his character, John Kreese pushed his new Cobra Kai students to the max. Kwon was a particular focus, taking the brunt of Kreese’s abuse just as Johnny had 40 years previous. Between this and the fact that Kwon fell on Kreese’s knife, the sensei is solely responsible for the boy’s death. Such a serious consequence may finally be what pushes Kreese to fully face his demons. If he approaches his story inCobra Kai’s final installment the right way, he may actually earn himself redemption.
Why Cobra Kai Should Redeem John Kreese In Its Final Episodes
Cobra Kai Has Already Established Its Formula
These events inCobra Kaiseason 6, part 2, setJohn Kreese on a path toward redemption. It would be strange if the series didn’t follow this up with some significant changesfor the character. After all, villains changing their ways is precisely what thisKarate Kidspinoff is all about. Whether Kreese actually deserves redemption is a different story. He has done some terrible things betweenThe Karate KidandCobra Kai, and in the real world, these may be beyond anything that someone could forgive. However, in the blissful world of fiction, Kreese might actually stand a chance.
Whether Kreese effectively earns redemption in Cobra Kai season 6, part 3, will depend entirely on Johnny Lawrence.
Whether Kreese effectively earns redemption inCobra Kaiseason 6, part 3, will depend entirely on Johnny Lawrence. The sensei’s wrongdoing has impacted Johnny the most, and it will be up to him to either forgive or walk away from Kreese forever. The fact that he saved Kreese inCobra Kaiseason 6, part 2, indicates that there is still some hope. However, the knowledge that Kreese’s methods resulted in a boy’s death may eliminate any residual love Johnny still feelsfor Kreese. In the end,Cobra Kai’sformula dictates that this villain should be redeemed—but only time (and healing) will tell.
