1000-Lb SistersstarTammy Slatonhas been threatening to leave Kentucky, and I’m convinced it would be the worst mistake of her life. The 38-year-old social media influencer rose to prominence after appearing on the show, which premiered in 2020. Back then, Tammy weighed over 600 pounds, and she’d go on to weigh 725 pounds at her heaviest. The unscripted show, which chronicles the weight-loss journeys of Tammy and her 37-year-old sister Amy Slaton, films in Kentucky. If Tammy leaves “The Bluegrass State,” I’m afraid the series might end.
Tammy didn’t commit to her weight-loss journey until a health scare landed her in the hospital. When the1000-lb Sistersseason 6star awoke from her week-long medically induced coma, she realized that she had to save her own life. She treated her food addiction, had bariatric surgery, and lost 500 pounds. Losing weight gave Tammy back her mobility and her independence. Now that she can take care of herself, she’s considering leaving Kentucky. However, I think that would be a big mistake that Tammy eventually regrets.

The Real Reason Tammy Wants To Leave Kentucky
Being In A Close-Knit Family Has Pros And Cons
Though the show1000-lb Sistersis mostly about Tammy and Amy, their three half-siblings have gotten in on the action. Chris Combs, 44, Amanda Halterman, 43, and Misty Wentworth, 48, have always been a big part of Tammy and Amy’s lives. In fact, the five siblings are together all the time.
When Tammy was at her heaviest, it was her family who took care of her. Now that she doesn’t need as much help, she’s feeling suffocated by her family. The Slatons are a handful, so I understand Tammy’s frustrations, but she shouldn’t let her impulsive temper ruin a good thing.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now
Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.
Being on1000-lb Sisterschanged Tammy’s life in so many ways. Not only did it help facilitateTammy’s 500-pound weight loss, it also made her famous. Being on the show has helped her grow her social media following, and she’s becomea prominent lifestyle influencer. Currently, Amy has 843K followers on Instagram and 296K followers on Instagram. On top of what being on the show has done for her health and career, the show inspires so many people to pursue their own health and fitness goals. I’d hate to see it get canceled.

Losing Weight Changed Tammy’s Life
She’s More Independent Than Ever
Losing a significant amount of weight has completely changed Tammy’s life. Back when she weighed over 600 pounds, the1000-lb Sistersseason 6 star had almost no mobility. She could barely walk, let alone stand up long enough to bathe herself. Leaving her house was a big event that required a wheelchair, a walker, a wheelchair ramp, a specialty van, and someone to drive Tammy everywhere. Now thatTammy’s at a more manageable size, she has a lot of mobility back. Tammy doesn’t need anyone to bathe her or cook for her anymore, but that doesn’t mean she’s independent.
Tammy’s Not Ready To Be On Her Own
She Still Needs A Lot Of Help
Though Tammy can do many things for herself, I still don’t think she’s ready to be completely on her own. Sure, the1000-lb Sistersstar can now fit in a normal car seat and use a normal seat belt, but she still can’t drive. She still needs someone to drive her wherever she needs to go, soI don’t understand why she thinks she could live independently of her family.
I’m as impressed as anyone by the progress Tammy’s made, but I don’t think she’s being realistic. This wouldn’t be the first timeTammy’s emotions got the best of her. I hope the1000-lb Sistersstar is able to control her impulsivity.
