10 Funniest Peanuts Comics That Just Turned 70 (In June 2024)

Peanuts is perhaps the greatest comic strip of all time, with one that marks an iconic first for Linus. Here’s the 10 funniest that just turned 70!

10Lucy Can’t Help but Be Bossy in Peanuts, Even to Bugs

Peanuts- June 21, 2025

It’s no secret thatLucy is the bossiest kid in thePeanutsgang. She regularly undermines Charlie Brown’s team manager position on their baseball team, constantly tells people what to do during practically every social gathering (Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc.), and she even has her own therapy stand where Lucy literally charges other kids for her advice. And in this strip, Lucy takes her bossiness to the next level, by trying to dictate the lives of bugs.

This is truly Lucy in full-form, and is absolutely hilarious to behold

Lucy is watching these bugs crawl on the ground, keeping a close eye on one that seems to be in imminent danger. She’s screaming at the bug to follow her orders, but of course it doesn’t, and she’s left being proven right. This is truly Lucy in full-form, and is absolutely hilarious to behold.

9Lucy’s Confidence in Peanuts is Admirable (Especially When She’s Wrong)

Peanuts- June 15, 2025

When Linus casually brings up the fact that tomorrow is the 4th of July to Lucy, she doesn’t wait a full second to ask if he knew that it was also Independence Day,in a manner that was more of a statement than a question. Linus said he didn’t, to which Lucy replies, “This is one of those years when they both fall on the same day”. As everyone reading this strip knows, Independence Day and the 4th of July are one and the same, but Lucy didn’t know that - and, more importantly, neither did Linus.

Lucy said this with such confidence, that Linus believed the 4th of July and Independence Day were two separate holidaysthat just happened to coincide with this year, and that’s a level of confidence that one can’t help but admire.

8Charlie Brown Has No Illusions About the Skill Level of His Baseball Team

Peanuts- July 30, 2025

During baseball practice one day, Linus was reading the paper to find that Mickey Mantle hit a “tape measure” home run, and he asked Charlie Brown - the team manager - if their team had a tape measure. To that,Charlie Brown flatly tells Linus the cold, hard truth that no one on their team could ever dream of doing what Mantle did, and that, “Our hits can be measured quite adequately with an eighteen-inch ruler”.

Charlie Brown is famously a cynic, with a hand perpetually clasped on the short end of life’s stick. And that’s why he’s so hilarious, as his borderline-nihilistic realism grounds the rest ofPeanutsgang, and this comic strip is a perfect example of that.

According to a biography of Charles Schulz, Peanuts' creator considered fellow cartoonist Jim Garfield to be his biggest professional rival.

7Peanuts' Linus Almost Understands the Theory of Dinosaur Evolution

Peanuts- August 02, 2025

Linus has a reputation for being perhaps the smartest kid in thePeanutsgang, which is one that he earned by being a constant sounding board for Charlie Brown, offering him sage advice containing wisdom well beyond his years. However, in the early days ofPeanutslore, Linus was just an average little kid who couldn’t tell the difference between a dinosaur bone and a chicken bone.

Interestingly enough, there’s a widely recognized theory that dinosaurs evolved into birds, including chickens

When he finds a bone in the yard, Linus shows it to Lucy, claiming it’s a fossil that’s millions of years old. Lucy breaks it to him that it’s just a chicken bone, andLinus considers that maybe it’s the bone of a chicken that’s millions of years old. Interestingly enough, there’s a widely recognized theory that dinosaurs evolved into birds, including chickens, and Linus was so close to connecting those dots himself.

6Linus Wrongly Fusses at Snoopy for Something He Didn’t Do, & Pays a Hilarious Price

Peanuts- June 13, 2025

When Linus sees that his wooden baseball bat is all dinged-up, he immediately accuses Snoopy of chewing on it.Linus totally flies off the handle, screaming at Snoopy, asking him why he couldn’t have just gnawed on a stick or a piece of fence or something. During Linus' tirade, Lucy walks by and casually tells him that she was the one responsible for dinging-up his bat, as she was using it to hit rocks.

Embarrassed and ashamed, Linus tries to make it up to Snoopy by offering him a bite of the bat. Snoopy wasn’t interested in biting the bat, but he was keen on taking a chomp out of Linus himself because of how mean he was, and began chasing Linus across the field. Indeed,Linus paid the price for wrongly accusing Snoopy, and it was hilarious.

5Snoopy Gets Linus Back for the Baseball Bat Incident in the Funniest Way Possible

Peanuts- Jul 05, 2025

When Linus is just sitting alone with his blanket,Snoopy charges out of nowhere, grabs hold of the blanket, and sprints at full speed while dragging Linus behind him. After Snoopy finally stops, Linus is left hanging off the side of Snoopy’s doghouse, wondering how much trouble he’d get in if he punched Snoopy in the face.

While not directly in response to Linus wrongfully accusing Snoopy of chewing his baseball bat, this comic strip is certainly an example of karmic justice in the ongoing ‘Snoopy vs Linus’ feud. Just as Linus came out of nowhere to be mean to Snoopy (no matter how justified he thought he was), so, too, did Snoopy just suddenly appear to cause chaos in Linus' life when he was minding his own business, and the end result couldn’t have been funnier.

10 Funniest Peanuts Comics That Capture the Joy of Childhood Summers

Peanuts always delivered comics that were nostalgic but not overly sentimental, striking a perfect balance in these sun baked summer strips.

4Snoopy Has No Patience for Charlie Brown’s Lessons in Morality

Peanuts- July 01, 2025

Snoopy stands on top of his doghouse, looking at his own reflection in his water bowl below. He’s so pleased by what he sees, that Snoopy doesn’t realize that he’s losing his footing, and falls head-first into the water. Soaking wet, lying on top of his doghouse (as he so often does),Snoopy is unfortunately approached by Charlie Brown, who starts to give a spiel about the dangers of vanity. To that, Snoopy only had one thing to say, “Oh, shut up!”.

Snoopy has always been one of the more relatable characters inPeanuts(funny enough, since he’s a dog)

Snoopy running around the yard, dragging Linus by his blanket behind him.

Snoopy wasn’t interested in being judged by Charlie Brown,he just wanted to fester in the consequences of his own actions in peace. Snoopy has always been one of the more relatable characters inPeanuts(funny enough, since he’s a dog), and this is one of the best examples of that being true.

3Snoopy Regrets Blowing Off Charlie Brown When Sally is in Charge of Feeding Him

Peanuts- June 28, 2025

One day, Sally randomly asks her brother, Charlie Brown, if it’s true that dogs eat grass. Chuck tells her that they do, indeed, eat grass, though he doesn’t know why. But, that initial ‘yes’ was all Sally needed to hear. Moments later, Sally wakes up Snoopy, who’s sleeping atop his doghouse, to tell him that she got him a bowl of food, when, in fact, she merely filled his food bowl up with grass - and Snoopy was not amused.

Dogs eat grass usually to ease an upset stomach (or out of boredom), but filling a dog’s food bowl with grass and calling it a meal is not good for them. But,unfortunately for Snoopy, Sally was in charge of feeding him that day, and she fed him grass, which assuredly made him regret blowing off Charlie Brown in the previous strip.

2Snoopy Uses Linus as His Personal Sofa in an Adorable End to Their ‘Feud’

Peanuts- August 10, 2025

Linus is lying on a pillow in front of the TV with Snoopy hanging out behind him, when something on the screen catches Snoopy’s eye. Snoopy creeps up behind Linus to get a closer look, and with every passing panel, Snoopy gets increasingly closer to the screen, all while completely disregarding Linus' personal space. Finally,Snoopy decides that Linus' body would make a good sofa, planting himself right on the child’s stomach, only to walk over his face to leave after he got bored.

As Linus confirms in the last panel, Snoopy just wanted to watch a dog food commercial (too much grass in his diet, perhaps). But, despite Snoopy’s reasoning, the entire comic was utterly adorable, and effectively brought their ‘feud’ to a sweet end.

1Snoopy is NOT Interested in Learning His Place in the Food Chain

Peanuts- July 02, 2025

Charlie Brown is explaining the food chain to Sally using some examples from their local ecosystem. He tells her that a butterfly gets nectar from a flower before being eaten by a dragonfly, which is then eaten by a bullfrog, which is eaten by a snake, which is eaten by a hawk, and so on. However, it’s when Chuck gets to the hawk that Snoopy - who was standing nearby, listening - decides he’s heard enough, thinking to himself, “Leave the beagles out of it!” as he chooses to take a nap instead of considering his place in the food chain.

Snoopy is a dog of luxury and leisure. He spends his days napping on top of his doghouse in between going on fun little adventures with the Peanuts gang.Snoopy doesn’t want to hear about how there might be an animal out there that wants to eat him, he’d much rather live in blissful ignorance, as shown in this hilarious comic strip, making this one of the 10 funniestPeanutscomics that just turned 60.
