Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2has a number of Chapters for players to choose from when customizing their character. Of the 1,000 Space Marine Chapters floating about the40Kuniverse, only 30 made the cut, although many of them are from the 20 First Founding Legions. Choosing a Chapter only really affects the color of the player’s armor, but as each one has so much lore and history behind it, it’s also like picking a backstory.
The inclusion of 30 different Space Marine Chapters for players to choose from is what makesSpace Marine 2one of thebestWarhammergamesof all time. It allows players to represent their favorite Chapter while also exploring ones they’d perhaps not heard of before. However, while they’re all amazing, there are some Chapters that just have cooler color schemes or more interesting lore.

10Iron Hands Creates An Intimidating Space Marine
One Of The Shattered Legions
The Iron Hands color scheme is fairly basic inWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, but it works incredibly well for an intimidating Space Marine. Clad all in black save for some boltgun silver accents, these terrifying Marines resemble towering statues come to life more than some of their colorful counterparts, like the Imperial Fists. They’re also a generally impressive Chapter in the Adeptus Astartes, being one of the original 20 First Founding Legions.
Notably, the Iron Hands were led by the formidable Primarch Ferrus Manus, who shaped them into cold-blooded killers who were pivotal in destroying the forces of Horus during the Horus Heresy. However, they are also one of the three Shattered Legions, who came close to annihilation during the battle on Isstvan V. Of course, for players who want to get even more cosmetics for their favorite Chapter, including the Iron Hands, then they’ll want to purchaseWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’sSeason Pass.

9White Scars Have A Bold Color Scheme
Warhammer 40K’s Biker Gang
The White Scars are the exact opposite of the Iron Hands, as their bold white color scheme with a hint of red contrasts with their cold black armor. While the white doesn’t look as impressive as the black, the 80s-esque yellow and red lightning bolt symbol that serves as the crest of the White Scars Chapter looks undeniably cool when paired with the white armor. This is in keeping with the White Scars Chapter, who is also one of the original First Founding Legions andhelps them stand out when blasting Chaos Marines inSpace Marine 2’sEternal War mode.
One Massive Space Marine 2 Exclusion Is The Perfect Setup For A Future Update
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is missing a huge feature that should absolutely be the basis for a future update or even additional story DLC.
The White Scars, who refer to themselves as the “Horde of Jaghatai,” are a deadly and powerful Space Marine Chapter whose penchant for motorbikes makes them incredibly fast in combat. They ride into battle, cutting down anything that gets in their way, utilizing the “lightning strike” and “hit-and-run” techniques which they have spent millennia mastering. The White Scars are an incredibly cool Space Marine Chapter backed by some impressive loreand perfect forWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2fans that want to stand out a little more.

8Salamanders Are Bold And Colorful
The True Defenders Of The Emperor’s Subjects
The Salamanders are a colorful Space Marine Chapter, sporting a green and black color scheme with a hint of gold on the chestplate. Like a handful of other Chapters inWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the Salamanders stand out in battle thanks to their bold colors. However,it’s easily their lore that grants them a spot as one of the coolest Chapters in the game, as they are, after all, known as the “Dragon Warriors.”
The Salamanders hail from a Death World, which is literally a world that’s too uninhabitable for humanity to live on and that’s constantly being torn apart by its plethora of explosive volcanoes and earthquakes. However, while just as ruthless as the others, they are one of the kinder Space Marine Chapters, believing that they must save as many of the Emperor’s subjects' lives as possible, and even still speak to their families after undergoing the brutal process of becoming a Space Marine. The Salamanders were one of the last First Founding Legions and are also one of the Shattered Legions.

7Black Templars Are Muted But Cool
The Space Marine Chapter On A Never-Ending Crusade
The Black Templars, much like the Iron Hands, have adopted a far more muted color scheme, with its primary color being black with white pauldrons and its crest painted in white on its greaves. The addition of a secondary color certainly helps them stand out a little more, especially inWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, making them a more enjoyable Chapter to play as. When it comes to lore, the Black Templars are famous for its endless crusade that it wages against the heretics and forces of Chaos that are scattered across the galaxy.
The eternal crusade that the Black Templars have been fighting has lasted over 10,000 years, and continues to rage on. Their dedication to the Emperor and their tactics for converting or killing those who don’t believe have made them an exemplary Crusading Chapter.

They do little outside this crusade, dedicating their entire lives to seeing its completion and the end of the galaxy’s heretics in the name of the Emperor. Interestingly, the Black Templars are an offshoot of the Imperial Fists, created to aid in the defense of Terra during the Horus Heresy. They’re also not like the other Chapters, asthey don’t adhere to the Codex Astartes, nor do they have a homeworld or structure themselves like the other Chapters, making them completely unique and perfect for those who wish to show their devotion to the Emperor inSpace Marine 2.
6Dark Angels Are A Well-Known Chapter
The First Space Marine Chapter
The Dark Angels are one of the most well-known Space Marine Chapters, and that’s largely thanks to their intriguing history. However, their color scheme, which is similar to the Salamanders, is worth noting, as the dark green and bronze accents make them appear as their name would suggest. The Dark Angels are the very first Space Marine Chapter, and have had a long and complex history ever since.
Are Adeptus Custodes In Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2?
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is full of interesting 40K lore, so fans are likely wondering if the awe-inspiring Adeptus Custodes show up.
While they’re considered one of the most powerful Chapters in the Adeptus Astartes, the Dark Angels spend much of their time attempting to atone for their sins against the Emperor. During the Horus Heresy, many Dark Angels were corrupted by the influence of Chaos, and while most of them were defeated, some remain as Fallen Angels, causing those still loyal to the Emperor great shame. Their backstory is incredibly fascinating, so it’s no surprise that theextensiveSpace Marine 2roadmaphas outlined crucial new cosmetics coming for them.
5Blood Angels Are Iconic
The Heroic Children Of Sanguinius
The Blood Angels are one of the most iconic Space Marine Chapters in the40Kuniverse, largely thanks to their Primarch, Sanguinius, being considered a legend even among his brothers. Their blood-red armor befits their name, and the black accent helps give it a little contrast.InSpace Marine 2, they look bold, especially when compared to their blue brethren, the Ultramarines.
By far, the aspect that makes the Blood Angels so compelling and equal parts cool is their lore. They were one of the First Founding Legions, led by the best of the best, Primarch Sanguinius, who died fighting Horus during the siege of Terra. They’re a relentless, bloothisty Chapter that lives up to its Primarch’s legacyby helping rid the galaxy of heretics.
4Blood Ravens
Nerds For Ancient Lore
While the Blood Angels do look incredible inWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the Blood Ravens look just that little bit cooler. The darker shade of crimson red coupled with the creamy white pauldrons and black lining give them one of the coolest color schemes in all of 40K.The Blood Ravens are definitely a fan favorite, and have appeared in a lot of extended40Kmedia, including the originalSpace Marinegame, and fans can make them look even better once they’ve learned how tounlock armor customization inSpace Marine 2.
The Blood Ravens are the main Space Marine Chapter that appears in the40Kgame seriesDawn of War. Players take on the role of Captain Davian Thule in the originalDawn of War campaigns and its sequels, although some of the other Chapters were available for the skirmish and multiplayer modes.
When it comes to lore, the Blood Raven Space Marine Chapter is fairly unique. While they are still immensely powerful super soldiers, the Blood Ravens are also constantly searching for ancient artifacts and knowledge, going to extreme lengths to get it. Ironically, not much is known about their origins as they are completely shrouded in mystery.
3Imperial Fists Are Some Of The Coolest In Space Marine 2
The Emperor’s Personal Praetorians
Giant yellow Space Marines don’t sound particularly intimidating, butthe Imperial Fists are easily one of the coolest and most virtuous Chapters in all of40K. During the Great Crusade, they were the Emperor’s personal guard, and since then have continued to uphold His teachings and beliefs. They are the most loyal of all the Chapters and even follow the strict Codex Astartes without fail.
What Is The Deathwatch & Why Was Titus In It Before Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2?
Taking place 200 years after the events of the first game, Titus has been busy working through the ranks of the Deathwatch before Space Marine 2.
For players who wish to uphold the traditional Space Marine values inWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the Imperial Fists are the Chapter to pick. They are noble, brave, and fiercely loyal soldiers, who also happen to have a bold yet impressive color scheme. Of course, it could be argued they more resemble a Tau soldier than a Space Marine.
2Space Wolves Are Warhammer Icons
The Vikings Of The 40K Universe
The Space Wolves are like the Vikings of the40Kuniverse, who are even known as Vlka Fenryka or “Wolves of Fenris.” They specialize in using melee weapons, preferring close-quarters combat to picking off Orks with a bolter. While they are loyal to the Emperor, unlike their Imperial Fist brethren, they prefer not to follow the Codex Astartes, and instead follow their own set of rules.
The Space Wolves are a cool faction in both nature and color scheme, with their red and yellow pauldrons perfectly contrasting their sky blue armor. While they may not look quite like Vikings or barbarians, the Space Wolves are the closest players will get to imitating them in the40Kuniverse. No matter which of the severalSpace Marine 2classesplayers pick, they look absolutely incredibly and suitably intimidating in the Space Wolves' color scheme.
1Ultramarines Are The Best Space Marines Chapter
Making Roboute Guilliman Proud
Ultramarines may not be to everyone’s taste, but it’s hard to deny just how cool they are. Not only are they under the leadership of Primarch Roboute Guilliman, the one responsible for leading the Indomitus Crusade and ushering in the era of the Primaris Marines, butthey’re also an elite Space Marine Chapter that’s considered the best of the best. There is a reasonSpace Marine 2is centered around an Ultramarine, and that some of the best40Kfiction is also Ultramarine focused.
Does Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Have Local Co-Op?
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is packed with co-op content for fans to sink their teeth into, but can players experience it in local co-op?
It’s understandable why some consider the Ultramarines a little too vanilla. They are, after all, perfect at almost everything. However, with a rich backstory, an incredibly cool color scheme that works perfectly, and some seriously cool iconography, there is a reason that the Ultramarines are the face of the Space Marine faction inWarhammer 40,000.
